so far it's... pretty difficult. lots of parts i don't understand, so i'm moving at a snail's pace. (maybe like 2-3 pages per day at best.) but it seems easier than that lion king short novel that my friend bought me 8 years ago.
still, i figure that if you really want something, you'll do it. it's all part of the learning process.
i've been hearing that it's not so much a baseball book as it is a business principles book. i actually did buy the drucker management book (in English) so at least i won't be completely lost there.

There was a 2010 animated movie called "Colorful" that won some award.
It is based on a カラフル (Colorful) by 森絵都 (Mori Eto), who
AFAIK writes book for young adults.
Because of the 2010 movie, カラフル is probably her most famous work.
Summary
This particular "heart-warming comedy" follows a person who finds himself trapped outside the normal endless circle of life and death. Thanks to "winning" a lottery in the angel world, the protagonist is brought back to inhabit the body of Makoto - a freshly-suicidal 14-year-old boy. While his life in this new body is pretty easy at first, it isn't long before he understands why the previous resident chose his fate, as he's now stuck in the same situation Makoto was and forced to deal with the confusing eccentricities of his family and friends. However, he eventually begins to think about the true meaning behind this challenge.
Also, Her first book（リズム) was published in 1990. Mori Eto was only 22 years old at the time.

Here are some readers/conversion tools w/ vertical text (縦書き) functionality that have arisen lately in case you've missed them. The important thing is that unlike Smoopy or ArisuViewer, these result in selectable text:
青P, Japanese software to convert .txt to .pdf w/ horizontal or vertical selectable text w/ a bevy of formatting options including 原稿用紙, with Aozora formatting converted properly to furigana, images, etc., also.

Aozora to PDF Converter, courtesy of our user Souryo; something like a standalone, offline version of http://a2k.aill.org, performs similar actions to 青P, but slightly different, and with English menus.
TxtMiru 2.0 - My favourite reader for the moment. Smooth page-turning animations, converts all the Aozora formatting (e.g. ruby, images) with no problems, w/ vertical selectable text. You can customize pretty much everything. Doesn't require AppLocale to work/display menus properly, but it's a bit tricky to mess with the settings unless you use AppLocale. I followed tokyostyle's tips and ran a 32-bit version of 7-zip w/ AppLocale to extract the .zip (you can do that instead of using the .msi), then set up a shortcut to run TxtMiru2 w/ AppLocale also. Everything is perfect, that way. StarDict also works when you mouseover the menu items if you run into words you don't know.
Tip: TxtMiru prefers fonts w/ the @ symbol before them, except for 柱, it likes the usual fonts for that. (You'll see what I mean.)
Oh, and Aozora Gaiji Replacer if you have an aozora-formatted .txt w/ 外字 formatting in it and a given reader/tool doesn't display or convert them. TxtMiru2 and 青P only replace it w/ a symbol so you'd want to run the replacer first if you have 外字 in the file, and I know a2k.aill.org converts it properly, and Aozora to PDF doesn't.

I expect that anyone who might ponder further than the mere subsistance of such counterfactuals would readily agree that not only is the subjunctive their favourite mood, but that even such obviously nonexistant entities (in this world) necessarily has existance in some other (albeit very small) possible world. Those people, including myself, would therefore like to thank both yourself and David Lewis for your help in reaching this recognition, as i must surely hold the view that aforementioned counterfactual examples will henceforth have a significant impact on both my own life, and my understanding of the relative proximities of japanese possible worlds.

If some unscrupulous individual had got there hands on a large amount of text files but found themselves unable to read them, what would they be doing wrong? Lets say that the titles were displaying properly, but the text inside is gobbledy gook. We could also imagine that they already tried using applocale with 7zip to extract them Japanese style, but the result was the same. Such a person would probably have thought to try using another program to view the files, however, I like to think that yomichan, adobe pdf reader and Firefox couldn't even open the files.
By the way, it wouldn't be a suprise if these txt files were being given away free in hong kong.

Yes, be aware of UTF-8 and Shift_JIS if you're going to play with these Japanese texts; the tools mentioned here and in the JNovel Formatter thread are all encoding-sensitive/encoding-savvy. Well, it's good to know about them in general, since it seems to cause problems when people don't and encounter ‘gibberish’ in files with Japanese text. ^_^

Man, I was playing this game the other day where people (in the game) were being all sneaky and using crazy new shadow hiding techniques that I had never seen before. I was so slow to see what was actually going on. But when I finally saw through their disguise, I suddenly had this feeling of thankfulness overwhelm me.

Surprised there's been no innocent discussion about 剣嵐の大地 (A Storm of Swords in US) which is the third book in the 氷と炎の歌 (A Song of Ice and Fire) series. Sadly, they never got around to making paper backs for this book so the only way one could see the Japanese version would be to pay almost $200.00 for all five hardbacks.
Amazing series, but my wife says the translation in Japanese is lacking.

Unlike Megaupload.com which was just taken down by the feds for illegal data, the links posted in this thread were all from credible and honest sites.
