My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-12 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=994PJDX8 or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59HC4HF2 (way bigger) is the download link. I put in a txt for you guys as well if you want to read or not. It's pretty straight forward. The books with the HTML I put in it that makes it work pretty well. Just choose either folder and open the .htm file This method is meant for intermediate to advanced but you can still try if you're lower. I've tried hundreds of study styles and this is by far the best for me. What you do is read books in text form so you can follow along with rikai-chan. You can instantly copy and paste sentences or words into rikai-chan and use the C hotkey to copy the words with rikai-chan as well. This speeds it up pretty quickly as you can make sentence cards in well under 30 seconds so it doesn't hinder your reading time. Oh and by books, I mean whole books, things that are like 170+ pages. Now, if you're a lower level and can't read Japanese books well yet, then you can use the translated version provided to go along with your reading. This is like training wheels, getting you prepared to read on your own. Within a few books you will probably reach this stage. Your first book will be the hardest, but the second one will be a cinch. I have put in html codes to make it really easy on the eyes so reading for hours isn't hard at all. I've also included this rikai-chan page for you to type. It works better than any of the online ones imo. I always have it open 24/7 and use it whenever I want to put words down whether it be from online/a book/or a video game. When I'm done for the night, I go over the giant list to study. This way you can do massive amounts of vocabulary and manage to retain it. The basic idea is, jumping into Japanese and reading a ton, and this makes reading hassle-free. When you spend too much time looking up definitions or making cards, it will be a pain and you can easily quit. This makes it enjoyable so you usually study for longer periods of times. Even without Anki, you will start to get to the point where you have a gut feeling you know almost all the words even if you didn't remember studying them. Eventually you will continue making stronger connections that you will find yourself rarely even using rikai-chan. My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-12 niceeeee!!!! I understand what you are saying prefectly. I get annoyed sometimes when i have to look up so many words and such. But i'm at a level where now i can learn passively if needed. But i usual do both. Immersion+srs sentence mining+vocab. My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-12 Yeah, when I was a lower level, the biggest complaint was that when I kept looking up words all the time, I'd get super tired and forget what I was reading My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-12 I;'m at intermediate level right now. I still look up words and such. But understanding dramas+animes+mangas having gotten so much easier. Just today i started to re-watch a drama that i watched 5 months ago. And man so much difference. I could understand almost everything they were talking about, expect for those medical kanji, but ironically since i know the meanings for the kanji, that made the problem disappear=large amount of understanding with subtitles of course. My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-12 Yeah, I can totally link older shows to my Japanese ability through all the years I've been studying. It's really quite interesting. My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-12 Things have changed so much in the beginning. I remember when i kept thinking i couldn;t learn this language, so many characters it would take forever. And here i am now, studying+doing reps+immersion+writing and doing it daily. It's almost heading towards the 6 month period of me doing SRS+immersion. Kanji it took me 3 months. So far i've been improving to levels i didn;t though possible in understanding+reading. Writing i'm working, but everything adding up. My study method (Study pack included) - TheVinster - 2010-02-12 Yup, taa12121. If you want, send me your study method and I'd like to use that. Or just post it here if it's not too much of a burden. I'm interested.
My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-12 @TheVinster lol I can. But what i'll do is i'll type it up on MS word and upload on online. Or just type it up all here. I'm just lazy right now. Ok i'll give you an initial study plan.I'm so lazy to type everything. So i'll type up everything in the coming days. But for now here's the initial things. When i started learning japanese, i did take a level one course. That didn't get me far, only taught me hiragana.Only japanese i knew was from watching anime subbed for a year. So after finding the AJATT site and this and SRS anki. I began doing what khatz recommended. Listening alot, b/c it makes alot of connections in the language itself. So here's what i do. I have 2 kanji decks. One is the standard RTK and the other is extra ones. One is my standard 10,000+ sentence deck.(still adding but more slowly nowdays b/c my reviews are pretty high nowadays, but it fluctuates). I have a vocab deck, it's the basic stuff that are in JLPT and basic japanese of course. But i've started mixing it up with other vocab, etc. So that's 4 decks so far. I have another deck that is for grammer-tae kim. I'll eventually add it all to the 10,000 sentence deck to make my life easier. I have a standard kana deck, which my reviews are becoming non-existent lol I've recently added another deck specifically for news+other interesting kanji i encounter. I do not write that much kanji anymore. Just too time consuming. But i am in the midst of working on a production deck. I think it was mezbup that suggest that having around 30,000-40,000 production cards will help you writing or at least memory of kanji or i think it was something in terms of helping you gain considerably abilities in writing but writing i';ll be working nowadays as well. (I'll build up something this month and start working on it slowly, unlike my other reviews, writing will take me forever if i had so many reviews) When i'm doing my SRS reviews, it's VITAL to understand it. If you have an understanding of the sentence, it's a go for the next one. All i do is up the sentence amount. Although more doesn't always mean better. It's just me. Plus one thing i do more nowadays, it's alot of immersion even if it's background music. It helps me alot of connections slowly, or could just be me lol. Lastly this might be unrelated but having a good decent amount of sleep is necessary. As you're brain makes connections when you sleep. One last note, this is just standard study method I do. But not every specific detail. I'm just too lazy to talk about how I do it fully and all. I will type something up in more detail later on. Thanks for you're time everyone! My study method (Study pack included) - TheVinster - 2010-02-12 Okay, notify me when that goes up, haha. My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-12 @raseru I opened wordpad and the font was all messed. Meaning it wasn't display japanese text. Or maybe i didn't install the word font for my computer. My study method (Study pack included) - Womacks23 - 2010-02-12 where do you find more books in this format? My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 ta12121 Wrote:@raseruBut when you open the other file in firefox, it loads fine, right? I double checked all my files and they display it just fine in Japanese so it's probably on your side. Also you could try highlighting it all and changing fonts to another Japanese font. Try opening it in other formats. You can also try and use windows updates to download more Japanese fonts or even set your non-unicode to Japanese. (you might have to re-unzip it after you do that though) for the other guy looking for more books. I explained how in the txt but I guess I can just upload what I got. It might be a little sloppy and you'd have to edit some of the HTML to get it to be the same (just copy and paste, not hard) as I've downloaded a ton but haven't edited all of them to work just yet My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-13 yea it loads fine. I'm downloading some fonts, to see if it will correct it. My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 are they like not official fonts? Not too sure if that'd help. I'm starting to think it might be because my non-unicode is set to Japanese (allows you to run all kinds of Japanese programs without hindering English ones.) It's easily changeable, but then again, I suppose you could change the font to unicode and maybe it'd work My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-13 Hmm well i recently switched my system to windows 7 OS. So i'm installing all the fonts and such. I think i;ll do that as well, set everything to non-unicode to japanese My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 oh ok I uploaded the rest of the stuff. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59HC4HF2 it's somewhat organized and somewhat not. I probably have a few useless files in there, not too sure. Like I said, I edited a lot of them, but there's some I haven't edited yet. It's really easy to copy the HTML in one file from the top (page source) and paste it in a txt. Go to save as, change file type to All, and change it to unicode and add .htm at the end of the files name and you're done sometimes the images won't be linked correctly, so you just got to slightly edit the URL because it needs /pics/ or something. Ctrl+H can make it a breeze My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-13 pretty big file. My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-13 unno why im still getting this type of things on wordpad @—Á‹{ s‚·‚¸‚Ý‚â tƒnƒ‹ƒq‚̑ދü s‚½‚¢‚‚ t @ iŠp ìƒXƒj [ƒJ [•¶ŒÉ j @ƒnƒ‹ƒq‚Æ o‰ï‚Á‚Ä‚©‚牴‚Í‚·‚Á‚©‚è–Y‚ꂽŒ¾—t‚¾‚ª A‚ ‚¢‚‚̎« ‘‚ɂ͂¢‚Ü‚¾‚É h‘Þ‹ü h‚Æ‚¢‚¤•¶Žš‚ªŒõ‚è‹P‚¢‚Ä‚¢‚邿‚¤‚¾ B‚»‚Ì Ø‹’‚ɉ´‚½‚¿‚r‚n‚r’c‚̓nƒ‹ƒq‚Ì †—ß‚Ì‚à‚Æ A‘ –ì‹…ƒ` [ƒ€‚ðŒ‹ ¬‚µ A޵—[ Õ‚è‚ɈêŠìˆê—J AޏçHŽÒ‚Ì‘{ õ‚É”M’†‚µ‚½‚©‚ÆŽv‚¦‚Î A‚í‚´‚í‚´ŒÇ“‡‚É oŒü‚¢‚ÄŽE lŽ–Œ ‚ÉŠª‚« ž‚Ü‚ê‚Ă݂½‚肵‚Ä B‚Ü‚Á‚½‚ A‚ǂꂾ‚¯–\‚ê‚ê‚΂ ‚¢‚‚̋C‚ª ςނ̂©‘z‘œ‚µ‚½‚‚à‚È‚¢‚Ë c c B”ñ“ú íŒnŠw‰€ƒXƒg [ƒŠ [ A“V‰ºŒä–Ƃ̑æ‚RŠª!! My study method (Study pack included) - ta12121 - 2010-02-13 seems that this is just with wordpad. I can view everything else fine in japanese. My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 Yeah it's big. I probably slipped a image scan book in there on accident. Well, just use notepad then I guess. You could try and change the font it's using in wordpad though. Shouldn't be too much of an issue though cause you're not meant to read it anyways in txt. Staring at a white screen sucks My study method (Study pack included) - Womacks23 - 2010-02-13 I have the font problems too. But wondering about this here. From your howto file. Books There's a couple books I got here to get you started. Make sure you open the .htm files and not the TXT. You can find tons of txt stories on share/winny by creating triggers to look for ".txt" and "àÍî è¨ê‡" then searching with those keywords. "àÍî è¨ê‡" is supposed to be what? My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 I'm guessing the problem is that your guys computers can't handle these files in ANSI. I believe if your computer is set to non-unicode Japanese, then you should be able to read them (don't forget to reextract them, because the old ones may be corrupted!). I've reuploaded the first by going in all the txt files and saving them as UNICODE. I think this should work. I downloaded the txt the way they are straight from the Japanese, so blame them I guess lol.. here's the new link, updated in main post too http://www.megaupload.com/?d=994PJDX8 àÍî è¨ê‡ is 一般小説 My study method (Study pack included) - rswarsaw - 2010-02-13 damn, your pack is not available in Hong Kong via that download site. My study method (Study pack included) - Womacks23 - 2010-02-13 Thanks for posting this stuff. I've been looking for Japanese books in txt format for quite some time. My study method (Study pack included) - raseru - 2010-02-13 np OK, I went through the hassle and edited every single file to unicode and also made a html version. This deck has more than the last one. It's smaller though cause I deleted some of the trash and straightened it up. This also has more authors http://www.megaupload.com/?d=59HC4HF2 mirror http://www.zshare.net/download/7250943974debb58/ other posts updated as well This fixed the 文字化け right? |
