I didn't bother reading all three pages of this thread, so maybe someone brought this up already, but here's my reason for bookmarking these boards: resources! The collective knowledge of where to find nearly anything I want/need for my studies is staggering. I'm using Understanding Basic Japanese Grammar? NukeMarine has an excel doc with the sentences already typed up. I'm RtK-ing it? Everyone has posted stories/pics for help learning. I want to find music, podcasts, video, cool DS games, etc.? Everyone has posted links/reviews to their favorite stuff. That's why I read these boards sometimes. The collective effort to find/create engaging "stuff" has been phenomenal.
Regarding bickering on these boards concerning methods... I don't read those posts. I just watch an unholy amount of Japanese television.
