Winter 2010 Drama Rankings - IceCream - 2010-01-21 Hey smile hope it's useful! I'l update this as i watch more... also, if anyone else wants to do a review of any, i'l add them in too. (this would be especially helpful for the 2nd series dramas, as i probably won't watch them til / unless i've seen the 1st series) **Everyone remember, if you want J-subs for a show that isn't here, you can volunteer to time them (takes approx 15 mins per episode) and everyone benefits. The guy to speak to is Qop123 at d-addicts** also see http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=4607 if anyone wants to split the work for a series... Winter 2010 dramas: http://fansub.d-addicts.com/Jdrama_Fans … inter_2010 Massugu na Otoko: I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Massugu_na_Otoko genre: comedy(?), changing personality, romance(?) This is about a girl who kind of rips off a guy accidentally, then gets money out of him, and he helps her, and then i guess she will change him. Seems like a pretty standard drama, nothing special. Magerarenai Onna: B/I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Magerarenai_Onna genre: law, legal ethics, comedy ok, this is a drama with amazingly funny moments, but a serious undertone. It's about a woman who has been trying to become a lawyer for 9 years, but keeps getting set back because she won't accept the legal ethics. The thing that makes it funny is how ruler-up-the-arse she is. Just as i was thinking "why can't she be a bit more normal, this is a little bit too much", one of the funniest moments i've seen in a japanese show happened. It's much more self-awaredly funny, taking the piss out of itself than many straight japanese dramas, so i'm interested to see where it goes. The language is clear and easy to follow. Shinsengumi Peace Maker: I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Shinsengumi_PEACE_MAKER genre: samurai, historical, supernatural i only watched 1/2 an episode of this, sorry... it's about samurais, and the "special effects" are pure comedy. that's about all i can tell you. If you like samurai stuff, you might like it... Tomehane: B/I (no wiki entry) genre: calligraphy, school clubs This was recommended in the other thread & i'm really glad! It's funny, interesting, very easy to watch, and the language is easy, clear, and understandable. It's a real shame that there aren't japanese subs for this so far. I think a lot of RTKers will really like this drama, as there's some really interesting points about writing kanji, and interpreting calligraphy styles, lots to learn from it. Angel Bank: I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Angel_Bank genre: changing occupations The language in this is a little more difficult again, but if you've done a lot of the core6k series, not too hard. There's more business-oriented terminology, and the storyline is a little more difficult to follow than some of the others (until you know whats going on). It's about a woman who is passionate about her ideas, but other people don't generally stand up and fight with her. She decides to change occupation, but ends up working for the changing-occupation company she found. Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge: I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Yamato_Nadeshiko_Shichi_Henge genre: weird, transformation of a girl with no confidence, horror set, a bit of action. The language in this isn't very difficult, but it's not as clearly enunciated as some others. It's a weird show. If your well into japanese boy-bands (Johnny's boys... i think), a horrorish theme (but not a horrer storyline), and have a roughly 2 minute attention span, you'll probably love it... otherwise, maybe not. Actually, it took me a good 10 seconds to realise that the opening credits were actually opening credits, and not some random part of the drama, because the guys are so obviously some boy band and not actors. btw... has anyone else noticed that this same castle is used in a ton of dramas?! Bloody Monday 2: I http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Bloody_Monday#Season_2 genre: like 24 ok, i haven't watched much of this either yet, but that's because after watching the first 10 minutes, i wanted to watch the first series 1st. It seems like it's gonna be good! It reminded me A LOT of 24. The language is explanation dense in parts, but the sound is super-clear, and the words themselves aren't particularly difficult. So, along with the japanese subs (thanks pubbie2!), it shouldn't cause too much problems for people... p.s. Bloody Monday 1 is my new addicted-to series!! ^_^ Ryoma Den: I/A-A http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Ryoma_den genre: historical, samurai As usual, the NHK drama is of a totally different style and quality to the other dramas. If you were interested in the Sakamoto Ryoma character from Jin last season, you probably want to watch this, because it's about his life. Somehow, he's portrayed a little differently here, like, more overtly kind, and without the edge. I kinda miss Jin's Ryoma, but it's interesting to watch. Unfortunately, the background noise, non-standard Japanese, and shouty voices make the language pretty difficult. But, it's still followable, and some bits are perfectly understandable. Last season, Jin became a lot easier after adapting to it, so probably this will too... Perhaps the result of a few companies ruling them all. Winter 2010 Drama Rankings - Transparent_Aluminium - 2010-01-25 There's also 不毛地帯 (Fumo Chitai) which is definitely worth watching if you're up for a bit more serious drama. link: http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Fumo_Chitai Winter 2010 Drama Rankings - Captain Kanjipants - 2010-02-12 Sorry for a slightly off topic post, but I didn't want to make a new thread about it. IceCream, I saw a post the other day where you had put up a bunch of Anki decks that you made from dramas. I wanted to check those out but I forgot to save the link and now I can't find them. If those are still available somewhere would you mind posting the links again? Also, I saw a sub for Tomehane on d-addicts that was posted by someone named "1ceCream". Is that you? Winter 2010 Drama Rankings - dusmar84 - 2010-06-18 howdy yall, new to sub2srs and just wondering about converting video that doesnt come with subtitles natively. do i just need to download the necessary subtitles, i.e. english and/or japanese off a website like d-addicts and plug that into sub2srs? how do you know if the subtitles will match with the video you have timing wise? is there anything else i should know about before i undertake this project? thx Winter 2010 Drama Rankings - Bob123 - 2015-05-17 Sorry to bring up an old thread.
