m-flo - How You Like Me Now

A song I'm sure you all know already, but that's not the point. Does anybody know what Verbal says in the beginning right after "m-flo back in the set"? Its an adlib so its not in any of the lyric sheets and its been bothering me for a while now.

Sounds like 「揺らしにきたぜ」 but I'm not 100 percent confident though it would make sense.

Lately I've been listening a lot to Rohff's "Au-Delà De Mes Limites Classics", it's fantastic. Oh wait, wrong language. Um, Shurik'n's Samourai is Japanese, right? ^_^

This is probably one of the best Japanese hip-hop videos I've heard: three dope beats in one video.

Well, his MySpace profile pic looks interesting...

Drunken Tiger, Drunken Tiger, Drunken Tiger.

Start with their last album "feel gHood Muzik" and work your way back. You will not be disappointed.

Isn't Epik High a korean hip-hop group? I haven't listened to anything from them, but I think they are hip-hop.

Thanks for your recommendations guys Smile I'll give those a try

Any info about Axis and his background ?

Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - KREVA - 2010-04-24

Born in Japan in '76. Japanese/Indian mix. Speaks fluent English, Japanese and Bengali. Started rapping in '95. Usually lives Yokohama City. Specialty is his bad mouth. Has a hunger for knowledge and likes to monitor the sun's activity. Tries to expose the daily troubles, conflict and problems in Japan.

(I thought that was pretty cool when he started getting into the N.W.O./Bilderberg Group (in the Japanese verse). Never seen a rapper get into that before. lol)

Just in case no one wanted to decipher my one comment and be immoral in obtaining music...

http://www.myspace.com/sohmatohtokyo/music/playlists -- I'm obsessed with the third track, "2 turntable and mics... " (2 ターンテーブル&マイクス, best song on the album, I feel.)

Just want to put this out there again: Me and a few other people I met via this awesome thread have a private Japanese Hip-Hop blog up and running (almost 200 albums) for RTK members who like Japanese Hip-Hop and want an easy way to try out different artists. Seeing as there was only less than ten people who responded last time, if anyone here is reading this and has even the slightest interest in checking the blog out, PM me for access. Whether you just want to browse or even help out, you are more than welcome to do one, the other, or both. Smile

Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - kendo99 - 2010-04-25

It is a truly awesome blog, I've been able to find just about everything I looked for there. Thanks again KREVA and crew.

I'll echo the reccommendation for Drunken Tiger. My favourite DT track is 편의점 (
)

Actually my knowledge of Korean hip hop is limited to a handful of artists, but this stuff is gold:

First off, 화나 (Fana) is sick!! His album 'Fanatic' has more than its fair share of good tracks, my favourite of which being 화약고 (
)

The Quiett is also worth checking out. He produces for a lot of Korean artists, but is also not half bad on the mic himself either. Check out the track 뭥미 off his 4th album (
)

Both Fana and The Quiett are part of a larger collective called Soul Company who have released a couple of albums/mixtapes which are both very good. This posse-cut off of their 2nd mixtape is awesome - 의뢰인 (
), as is this track featuring Syntax Error (
). Both are produced by The Quiett.

A Korean friend recently introduced me to 가리온 (Garion) who've apparently been around for more than a decade and are pretty well respected in the scene. This is 회상 from their first album (
)

Yeah thanks to the blog, this thread may as well be locked as the blog is the solutionBig GrinBig Grin or...be unexpectedly turned into a korean hip-hop thread.

One suggestion:

If you have the actual CDs, could you also upload scans of the CD booklet (ESPECIALLY if they have lyrics).

Having the lyrics for J-hiphop songs would be awesome.

I wouldn't mind typing out the lyrics and uploading them to japanese lyrics sites (utamap, etc).

Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - KREVA - 2010-04-26

I linked this site on the blog as well. I has a plethora of Japanese Hip-Hop lyrics. A lot of what is uploaded on the blog can be found here. http://lyricz.info/
