Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - vgambit - 2010-01-28 I just downloaded about 8 hours of music using a very simple google search: site:blogspot.com artist name album name 7 out of those 8 hours are Rhymester and Gagle. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - SammyB - 2010-01-28 Nice Thread. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - sokino - 2010-01-28 Ryuujin27 Wrote:I just realized that I don't think anyone has actually recommended Soul Scream. They've got really, really good lyricism. They have put out a few albums so be sure to check them out.Love both of these songs. Surprised no one hasn't posted this song yet. It's referenced so much in other songs - "今じゃない今はアンバランス。" アンバランス - Kick the Can Crew Rap Wonder DX - Gagle Bay Dreams - Taro Soul Bossizm - Tha Blue Herb God Bird - Nipps feat. K-bomb, Dev Large, XBS, and Gore-tex BTW, has anyone heard Miss Monday rap? Lol, she's not bad. Not bad at all. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - vgambit - 2010-01-29 The lyrics (jpg; seems to be a scan of the album liner notes) and download for HMK RMX can be found here: http://www.geocities.jp/japonicaweb/heiankyo Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - KREVA - 2010-01-30 Waiting patiently for about a few more days until Rhymester's new album drops. ![]() http://tinyurl.com/ylchcg2 Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - nest0r - 2010-02-01 By the way, I mentioned I found that hard-to-find Sohmatoh album (a kind of supergroup featuring members from multiple groups, including Rappagariya), and if you Google for 'Sohmatoh', the second link or so should turn up a megaupload link, or at least the alphanumeric section of the MU address (begins with an R) that you can copy/paste... Just sayin', it's there. There to be reported, because piracy is wrong! Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - vgambit - 2010-02-01 Double-indirection. I love it. A google search term isn't illegal, lol. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - SammyB - 2010-02-01 Gagle are totally blowin my mind at the moment... Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - nest0r - 2010-02-02 @vgambit hehe, It's fun. I had a hard time finding one of those sites that had a quickly indexed 'recent searches' section. That said... anyone besides me like Sohmatoh? My only two issues with them are that often they tend to focus too much on the repeated, self-referencing choruses (I really hate self-referencing in hip hop in general, BTW). This seems to the detriment to the composition, though I enjoy the varied MCs' vocals so much overall that I don't care, plus I think they've got some interesting sequences and textures. One of the guys from Rappagariya, I forget his name, and the MC (Skipp?) from Indemoral, those are my two favourites of the group, though overall I find Rappagariya's output to be consistently superior to their work as Sohmatoh (although Indemoral isn't very good by themselves). Track #4 is particularly good. Track #8 gets stuck in my head a lot as well. There's a level of goofiness I often hear in Japanese rap that I don't often hear elsewhere (such as in French/French-Canadian stuff like Shurik'n or Sans Pression), like there's a certain style of performance/role-playing to it that's oriented around voice-acting, related to seiyuu/traditional theatre stuff, perhaps? (And kyoka, see punning references in my HBPK thread.) Goofy isn't quite the right word, I think, it stops just short of that, maintaining the overall cohesion of the song/album ambience. /end mini-essay Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - nest0r - 2010-02-02 sokino Wrote:Rap Wonder DX - GagleThis is a cool video and song. Normally I ignore music videos, especially when I'm using YouTube as a music piracy site, but I'll make an exception for this one. ;p Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - KREVA - 2010-02-02 DRAGON ASH Feat. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - SammyB - 2010-02-08 Listening to an album call control by Osumi at the moment, half way through first listen and totally digging it. Haven't seen it mentioned in the thread yet either: Check it: http://miyomimusic.blogspot.com/2008/06/osumi-big-o-control-spiritual-matters.html I think you'll like it vgambit. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - vgambit - 2010-02-12 Just added around 10 tracks to the playlist, including a Microphone Pager joint with the sample from Black Sheep's This or That. The feel is completely different. Also, Twigy is a LOT better when he's chilling out compared to when he's going crazy like on Shougen. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - thegeelonghellswan - 2010-02-14 I really have to recommend Seeda, by far the best mixture of flow and quality production. Hana to Ame is his best album I think. His self titled is quite electronic, but I liked it. And if you like it a bit more laid back try his album Heaven. He is the only Japanese rapper I like as much as US hip hop. Track off Heaven Track off Seeda I can't find any hana to ame tracks on youtube. Hana To Ame is the most popular track on the album and there are plenty of remixes but no originals. Here is a review http://joshiro.livejournal.com/4166.html I got all three albums off itunes with a japan itunes card. But, I study korean now and there is SO much korean hip hop on international itunes, it's awesome and generally much better than japanese rap. Granted, I already have a good mp3 version of the album, but I mostly bought this album because its one of my favorites and also for the lyrics booklet that can be used for mining vocabulary that SEEDA so often seems to mispronounce. As for Rhymester, I was more or less the provider of this album myself on the net. I think it was a nice comeback. Best tracks, 2 and 5. Mummy-D's rap on track 9 was sick to me. Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - nest0r - 2010-02-19 Anyone else listen to that Sohmatoh album yet? The album 'preview' link is still up... if you Google for 'Sohmatoh', should be one of the top results. You can tell me if you think they suck, it won't hurt my feelings... *readies razor blade* Dope Japanese Hip-Hop - vgambit - 2010-02-20 nest0r, that link doesn't load in Google Chrome. Anyway, who needs Sohmatoh when you have Ookami? Glad I'm using Firefox. ;p Otherwise, you don't need to load the hit result, you just need the URL that shows up--or rather, a portion of it. |
