I'm currently working on this kanji and I was just wondering where all of the references to Sri Lanka came from. I thought that maybe the kanji for Sri Lanka involved this one but it doesn't appear to be the case.

Doesn't need one. The whole idea is that what ever fires your imagination is legal. Read my story for pledge, you will probably find it just as unwarranted.

I agree with Immacolata, whatever helps you memorize the kanji is fine.
For Superintend, I came up with a pretty imaginative story I guess, but I am not the one that came up with Sri Lanka. I did probably just read it from another person story.
There are a lot of spicy food in Sri Lanka, so I guess it just came from that.

To help with the keyword, I used the idea of a british super-man (wearing the superman cape) who super-intends all the duties of the house, getting boosts of energy with *spicy curry*.

I was just curious for why Sri Lanka came up. The story seemed to work pretty well without it. India, Bangladesh and other countries would also have been fine when it comes to curries and spicy foods. Of course anything is legal, as long as what you include doesn't lead you to associate the wrong primitives.
Interesting stuff Fabrice, it's given me a few ideas. By the way, any reason for choosing 五 as your picture?

The character 辛 can also mean "bitter" in Japanese, and I use sometimes this meaning in my stories when it makes more sense than "spicy." My story for "superintend" was along the lines of how the superintendant in charge of taking care of the house is always bitter about the poor condition of the house and how he has to get it repaired, etc.
