I just finished off a package of strawberry mochi ice cream (Maeda-en). Delicious. My previous mochi experience was w/ this stuff--at first I didn't like it, but eventually I developed a fondness for each type. I still have the occasional paranoia about choking on it, though. I blame that Mari's Diary site for posting about elderly mochi deaths.

Recently, I had very refreshing cold soba noodles with cold tofu. Both were excellent and incredibly simple to prepare.
