Final Fantasy XIII - ta12121 - 2010-01-29

same here. With the subs i can understand what's going on. But without it, not so much lol

Final Fantasy XIII - Rekkusu - 2010-01-29

Most of the time I have a veeery vage idea of whats going on... But its still a highly enjoyable and awesome game Big Grin

Final Fantasy XIII - ta12121 - 2010-01-29

There is some kanji i have never seen that's in the game. It's mostly relating to military terms and such. So makes sense if it's hard for people to understand. Although for me i can understand anime alot+mangas. But since it's only been 5 months and a few weeks of learning japanese via SRS. I say i need a full year and half before i rate my japanese in terms of reading+understanding. The rest i'm working on it. (Writing+speaking)

Anybody want to trade their Japanese copy of final fantasy 13 for a copy of tales of vesperia for ps3 ( in Japanese )?

Final Fantasy XIII - Hashiriya - 2010-04-08

Final Fantasy XIII - ta12121 - 2010-06-07

If you wanna score a dirt cheap copy, now would seem like a great time to do so!

Final Fantasy XIII - ropsta - 2010-06-21

Yeah, so... I'm in chapter 10 and all I have to say is....

LET ME CAST HASTE GODDAMMIT

No.... I don't want a flame sabre. I want haste. No! Dammit! I don't want protection against lightning. I want haste!

It's like you have more control over the battle when you don't know anything about the enemy. I get the feeling I'm using more thought than was intended. /rant

And yet I continue...

Lost Planet rocks!

After playing through FFXIII, my impression boils down to two words: emo x.

Emotional kids runnin' around and changing their mind and whatnot every cut-scene, and that my thumb hurts after pressing 'x' for like 70 hours or so. Shouldn't be needed to say I was disappointed about this game.

Final Fantasy XIII - Evil_Dragon - 2010-06-21

Maybe it's just me, but.. to me, Xenoblade is a far superior game. That is to say.. there's far less drama and whining..

It may have better characters, but I disagree about the game being better. For a game like that, the battle system is what you spend most of your time on. And 13's system is really, really good.

Yeah... I went in with low expectations, so, mindlessness aside, I'm actually kinda impressed.

See how I psyched myself out there. Niiice, right?

Good, and it would be perfect if it were more customizable. I didn't think I'd play it this long. The story makes no sense. Fighting is the only thing keeping me going at the moment.

Curious. How far have you gotten in this game?

I'm some 4 or 5 hours in, so I might be wrong and there will be plenty of drama after all. Wink ...please tell me I'm right.

It's just that the world feels a lot more "real" compared to FFXIII, graphics aside. What I like about RPGs is having a huge world to explore.. Xenoblade is exactly that. I also care a lot more for the characters (cliched as they may be) whereas I didn't really like any FFXIII character. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

wccrawford is right about the fighting system though. At first the thought of controlling only one character (which is basically the same in Xenoblade anyway) at a time put me off, but it's pretty decent after all.

FF13 doesn't -feel- like I'm only controlling one character, to me. I'm giving them orders via which job class I give them, and the default orders are what I'd push the buttons for 95% of the time. In fact, I began to hate all the button pushing for the main character. It's necessary for a few of the more precise techniques, but... ugh.

Well, I stopped playing FFXIII. I can't continue. It is just too boring. I was just where you got the black guy's eidolon.

You should try star ocean, till the end of time(ps2,so the graphics aren't ps3-graphics bare in-mind). But the gameplay is fun, like really fun. The story isn't bad, the game is 2 dvds for ps2. I recommend getting the directors edition as that's pretty much the only one in japan nowadays.

Ahhh, I've still got my copy of Star Ocean lying around somewhere. One of my top 3 favorite games. Although I would say it might not be a great choice if you're not really into sci-fi/futuristic stuff Tongue

My PS2 doesn't work anymore. It loads the games and freezes after a while. Now I'm accepting only Wii or Ps3 recommendations. =D

With a decent system, you can play pretty much any ps2 game on an emulator. I was playing X-2 a while back with little problems.

I got this game for 500 yen. Is the Japanese hard? I sometimes have listening comprehension and speed-reading issues.

I would say it ranges from lower intermediate to advanced. I was able to understand a lot of what they were talking about (even if not ALL the words) and I'm lower intermediate. I couldn't understand the item names or back-history, though.

I'm not really a sci-fi person but I loved that game a lot. Plan on buying it with xenosaga 3. Both in japanese for my ps2.

Does someone have a recommandation of where I could find some FFXIII related vocabulary? or a list of words?

I plan to buy the game for Christmas. I'm afraid of struggling on every word and quickly lose interest... This is why I would like to prepare the vocabulary in advance.

Regarding my level, I have finished RTK1 and core2k.

I found some on smart.fm and using the smart.fm vocab import via anki plugins. You can use those to import it to anki and review them there. Hope this helps

Thanks ta12121. This is bad there are only 40 words there.

I have purchased the omega strategy guide book in japanese, however this is not very convenient for mining the vocab as I don't know many kanji ^^

Have someone worked on his own FF13 deck he could share with me?
