There is a book called 'Making out in Japanese'. It's not bad and has quite a lot of casual Japanese for informal situations. The phrases for freeting and like and dislikes of food are very useful. A lot of it seems to revolve around getting into/out of fights though.

Do you really want to sentance mine the Japanese equivalent of 'Do you come here often?' though? Being actually able to speak Japanese to a decent level and using English for the rest would be better than memorising corny one liners. But then I'm not much of a pick up artist so what would I know?!

Do Japanese guys even use pickup lines? From what I've observed, the closest thing they have is hair teased to the limits of human physiology. Once that's in place, they just descend on a girl like vultures, and when the dust clears, the girl and one of the guys is gone. This process repeats indefinitely.

Of course, this might just be an Osaka thing. It's weird here. Tongue

Neither am I. lol

It's not about actual application of the sentences, rather I just think it would be fun to know. I can't mine practical sentences. My reason for learning Japanese isn't practical to begin with. ( just for fun)

You know how sometimes people want to know how do you say X in [foreign language], just because they think it would be cool to know it? Whether it be insults, jokes, etc. Anything for the fun of it. That's how I like to approach sentences. I'd imagine if its funny stuff like that, I'm bound to retain it, since I actually like whats being said.

Sure its stuff you would almost never say (formally), but its still Japanese.

When I lived in Kobe it was card magic. Get a deck of cards and do some magic tricks. I saw this at a few bars and at the beach. Of course the beach was girls in high heels, bikinis, lots of make-up, and trying desperately to stay on top of the intertubes so their 10,000 yen hair-do didn't get wet Wink

"Making Out in Japanese" is not just good for random cheesy pickup lines, but good funky Japanese in general.

I'd highly suggest it!
