shinichi hoshi - nest0r - 2009-11-27 Snallygaster mentioned this Japanese author who writes microfiction before, but thought this recent entry by Momus was worth linking to in order to highlight their work again. Seems like a useful learning resource... (I've never read, but I imagine it might be similar to Daniil Kharms' work?) Edit: Correction, I did read a translation of a story about a 'bottomless' pit when I was much younger, it was quite good. http://imomus.livejournal.com/506001.html Oops, I see Magamo already mentioned, as well: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=55630#pid55630 magamo Wrote:"If my opinion is worth anything, I recommend Hoshi Shin-ichi (星新一). Most of his works are collections of short stories. His language is modern and simpler, too. I read every work at least 10 times when I was a kid. I literally remembered every word in his works back then! He was also revising his novels to make them sound modern until he passed away in 1997. The readers are mainly grade schoolers, but it doesn't mean adults can't enjoy his novels." |
