Thanks for sharing these interesting (and sometimes vulgar) stories.. although if I try to use any of these mnemonics I actually find it sometimes works against my memory.

Steal the stories that works for you, and keep your own stories when you feel they are better. I don't "use" whole stories from this web site, but 3/4 of my stories come from "generic plots" stolen on this site (and crafted into a real story by my brain). The remaining 1/4 of the stories come directly from my memory.

If a story is vulgar, it is shocking. And if it is shocking, it will stick to your mind, so it's a good thing (that's what James Heisig says in the intro of the book, and I've found that it works for me).

Oh, and I love the Mr. T primitive Tongue

Personally, I never got into the Mr. T stories. Since I never watched the TV show, Mr. T has always just been a one-dimensional character in my mind and stretching his catch phrase over 40+ kanji seemed like it was destined for confusion.

However, some of my favorite stories come from the vulgarities people posted on this website. I don't think I'll ever forget the vulgar versions of "extract" (still one of my favorites), "pick up," "beat," "lazy," "solution," "uncle" nor any of the kanji containing the "soiled underwear" (spindle), or "semen" (missile) primitives...among many others. Oh yeah, and whoever posted the one for "lead" with the golden gullies and Led Zeppelin, Smile

I'm doing the 'person' lesson right now and I went with Joey from Friends for 'person'. Although I know the A-team well, I am not a big fan of it. I've seen each Friends episode at least twice, mostly more, so I know many funny situations that Joey gets into that I can use for my stories. I've also been putting them up on here so perhaps that will also help younger people who aren't as familiar with the A-team and Mr. T. (Or older people who don't like it either. Tongue )

I've never seen the A-Team thing either but I think that actually helped me remember the kanji, from reading some of the stories you get a shallow idea of what he'd do with the other componets in the kanji (something rude, use it to teach lessons to kids, something van-halen-joke-ish, etc.) rather than making me think of him as a (more) complex character who actually did stuff in a TV show.
