Also I can't seem to find how to find sentences containing a specific word, the search option only has "goals" and "users" options. Where is the sentence search in the new version?

I just signed up to see what the fuss was all about. It's a website, not really different from "Reviewing the Kanji" except for the fact that their application called iKnow is broken and doesn't work with AZERTY keyboards. I deleted my account after five minutes, RTK and Anki is enough for me.

yeah, the new interface is crap. I tried for 15 min to fin Japanese core 6000 step 8 with no luck. URL's done make sense, googled index points to missing page, even a direct serch on the site wont yeild it. Iknow was a great idea (well, at least the sentences, anki tops thier review system) from about 5 mins, before they screwed it all up.

it is indeed utter poo. i am not using the new interface to review, but have since kinda lost my faith in iKnow too. i want the info&audio, but rather use Anki.

Yh not a fan, in the core2000, if you look at sentences without going through the iknow program, there is no English translations and its filled with things like <b>それ</b> in the reading column (not a big deal, but an irritant)

The messy update seems to have been rushed almost entirely for the purpose of the iPhone feature release. I am not bothering with Smart.fm until they get most of the bugs fixed. I will be back though. Maybe. I am returning to Japan at the end of this month and not sure how much time I will have to use it for several months until I am settled.

I am glad, that iKnow still works like usual. I tried the new app and it had too much errors, e.g. I wasn't able to continue after the first 4 items of the list I tested.
Yeah I know, that anki is the way to go, but I like to do the vocabulary on iKnow first before putting the example sentences into anki. Perhaps I am going to change my work-flow as the iKnow-part is very time consuming.

I'm not a big fan, but then again it'll probably just take some getting used to. Once they fix the bugs it should be better. I actually learn new words from it, but don't use any of the sentences in real life.

I don't know how to get this through the smart.fm interface itself, but the following example still works for finding sentences containing a given word:

I agree with most of what people are saying about the smart.fm website itself, but it's still a pretty amazing list of sentences/audio. I'm partly through the Intermediate Japanese list (which used to be called Core 6000), and I think it's a great resource for learning vocabulary. As mentioned above, the current version of the Anki Importer (thanks Joe Savona!) works with the updated smart.fm website.

If you don't like the new smart.fm, you could always give http://www.renshuu.org/ a try. I have switched to that site for learning vocabulary and kanji readings a while ago. It also has a section for learning and practicing grammar.
