Now I remember why I stayed away from this thread until now. I knew I'd read the whole damn thing.
This one ran around in a surprising amount of circles though. Jarvik- I really like your post along the lines of- why do religious people think their text/quotes have the same meaning/gravity to the non-religious/other religions. Using a religious text as proof for anything doesn't really prove anything. I was just thinking this morning, if the beauty and complexity of the modern world prove God's existence, isn't that contrary to faith, since faith means to believe in something without proof? Doesn't that mean you can either have faith, or believe that the world proves God's existence?

As for the interesting discussion surrounding the Trinity (which didn't become Chirstian doctrine until the First Council of Nicaea) how about this piece of scripture:

this forum has quite a diverse bunch of people... its amazing how we all come together to study Japanese and all fall apart when the subject of religion is brought up

(on the other hand, I have had a lot of fun trying to read Genesis, even though I am not religious. It's mostly that it's written in Japanese that is important, not that it's OH NO NOT THE BIBULLLLLL!!!!!
