It seems mainly to be used as a substitute for 総. firstborn son 惣 - Katsuo - 2007-05-24 There's a compound 惣領 (souryou) which means the eldest child. It's also used in some names like 惣一 (Souichi). If you have access to a copy of Halpern's dictionary then that has some more information on this character. |
