Huh, you know what, maybe I'll go first.

I heard a friend use something like this: すわりごっごちがいい, meaning something like it's a comfy seat, but I'm not sure if I'm writing/spelling it correctly. Can you help me out here?

With the hair and glasses the bishops remind me more of those people from the movie Grease. I think there's a term in English for that subculture...but I have no idea what it is.

The knights just look like they didn't get enough oxygen in the womb and popped out 'special' though Tongue

Dear Magamo,

I have this problem that's been bugging me for, well, pretty much my whole life. You see, the thing is, whenever I've been awake for a number of hours I begin feel groggy, move slower, and, in some cases, make mistakes that I usually wouldn't. To top matters off, if decide to lay down when this is happening I black out completely and when I open my eyes, several hours seem to have passed, sometimes even, it's the next day. I usually drink lots of coffee, and very often, take a pinches of meth and/or Ritalin to prevent this from happening. But it seems like I'm only delaying the inevitable, because I soon as I lay down (or on some occasions while I'm wide awake) I pass out again.

I could really use your advice on this one. Oh, and I also have this strange itch in my groin area. It's beginning to feel quite.... unpleasant Sad

Dear Magamo™,

おとめん, or rather, 乙男, from the manga/dorama of the same name, is this a new word made up for the manga? Also, I've seen on Wikipedia that the first part comes from 乙女/おとめ, but I'm a little uncertain about the last--is it simply assigning the メン (イケメン) reading to the 男 kanji? I realize there's plenty of these authorial uses in Japanese that play with the semantic/phonetic contrasts and connotations, but is that common for neologisms? Or perhaps メン has been added to 男 before?

Also, the メン from イケメン, is that from 面? Or メンズ or somesuch (i.e. a direct import of English 'men' to katakana) as suggested someplace I found via Google. Or a little of both...

I've never heard or read the word 乙男 other than when it refers to the manga/drama. I guess it's a new word made up by the author. But then again, I'm not interested in "that side" of stuff, so it might be the case that it's a common word among crossdressers, transgenders and so on. The last material that I have consumed and is remotely related to that kind of thing is まりあ†ほりっく, and if my memory serves, it didn't use the word.

As for semantic/phonetic contrasts and connotations in neologisms, they're fairly common especially among slangy words and proper nouns. For example, most Japanese choose kanji and their readings very carefully when they give names to their children, and often they take into account Japanese homonyms, meanings of kanji, foreign words with similar sounds, common foreign names, etymologies, etc. In my opinion, 乙男 is a very cleaver neologism because of the reasons you gave. It also sounds similar to イケメン, which is kind of related to 乙男.

No one knows who coined イケメン, but it's often said that high school girls in Tokyo started using it. To me, the メン part is more 面 than "men," but I wouldn't be surprised if it originally meant "men." I'm guessing the person who coined the word picked the メン sound to mean both at the same time.

I think human beings tend to see people of the opposite sex as a group, e.g., a book title "How men think" interests girls more than men unless it's in a scientific context and "What kind of thing do girls like?" interests men. We all know what "to each his own" means, but still we tend to treat people of the opposite sex as a group and wonder "What kind of thing would attract cute girls?" If you're a male person, I guess you wouldn't see good looking men as a group as often as heterosexual girls would. So if イケメン were coined by a guy, it was probably 面. But probably a girl created the word, so I think there is a higher chance that she meant both.

Google for "how to get on a regular sleep cycle." Also, take a shower. If taking a shower doesn't fix it, you're having a more serious problem. Don't have sex when her crotch smells strangely bad and leaks green-ish liquid. It's contagious.

He is an immature kid who just wanted to say something along the line of "You want to reach a manko? You came out of one."

Also, you got the wrong pitch accent. They're not homonyms in speech.
