Finding dubbed American shows... - sethg - 2009-10-06

Where do you guys find dubbed American/British tv shows? I'd like to enjoy some of my current favorite shows (South Park, Dexter, Weeds), but stay in Japanese mode. Some things are available on sites like Play Asia, but often the shows I want most (South Park) are completely out of stock.

Where do you guys get your stuff?

I must know this as well. I'm up to here with Dramas and movies. I need some Dexter in my life. Seriously

I just ordered a bunch of stuff from YesAsia... but it's all pretty old stuff. Anything new (like Dexter) is, like, $100+ or even more.

I know d-addicts is great for dramas, but to get dubbed western shows... I don't know any way that wouldn't bankrupt me.

Yeah I have been searching for the last 3 months with no luck. Of course there are just a handful of certain shows on streaming, but it really amounts to nothing and isnt even near a complete season.

Would be great to find this. I'm sure there is a japanese community that uploads dubbed tvshows just like we do in america.

The only thing I can do to help is suggest you go to all the video websites you know and type in the name of the show in katakana, and sometimes you can find something if you put the name in English and then "Japanese" "Japanese dub" or "吹き替え." You're bound to find at least a clip of something for most popular shows.

I swear I saw tons of South Park dubs around somewhere...

Also, on RTKshare there's a list of Japanese dubs (you need to be a member first):

Edit: Oops, seems like you were looking for stuff you can buy. But I do hope that list come in handy Smile

I've found more on ニコニコ than on YouTube so far. I am really gonna load up on this kind of stuff when I'm in Japan next year. It's just so bloody expensive (even before shipping!) to buy it here.

And, thanks Nuriko. I feel like I saw a ton somewhere too, but I can't find them anymore. If anyone knows, please say so. In fact, if you have them, e-mail me. I want them so bad!

Ah, by the way, the full video of Blue Streak dubbed in Japanese is on ニコニコ. It's not, like, one of my favorite movies or anything, but I'd like to have it to watch whenever. Is there a way to download the videos as mp4s or anything? I have a greasemonkey script to let me do it on youtube, but I'm kind of new to ニコニコ.

Here's a tutorial type thing that lists some ways to get videos off ニコニコ:

Nuriko, your resourcefulness is awesome Smile Thank you so much! The group, indeed, has a great list of some dubbed things. That, plus the ability to download from NikoNiko, is wonderful. I found the AdobeAir supported program was the best way.

Now to find a good, free flv to mp4 converter Smile

This is fantastic. Thanks so much! There isn't much better in life than watching The Lion King in Japanese.

I posted some stargate episodes at the revtk-share hexagon group: http://revtk-share.hexagon.cc/

Also found torrents for 24 season 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 dubbed. (Posted at hexagon group)

Your best bet for dubbed shows would be to download them directly of share or Perfect Dark. If you want to buy them, then you'd better have a lot of spare cash =P
