Your favourite stoty by someone else is an interesting thread. Reading other people's favourite stories has lead me to some more memorable images and mnemonics.

Particularly, cbogart bigging up inuki's story for beat lead me to a better way to remember the kanji.

So in a similar way, how about posting your favourite by yourself? Somewhat onelistic, but why not?

Off the top of my head, mine is holy

"Tyson bit Holyfield's ear (with his mouth obviously). Shame really coz he used to be the king of the ring."

My personal Favorite is Eddy the Freaking clam, the 1 eyed Shellfish with attitude and chutzpah. I've had a lot of fun telling various stories of his exploits. I'm a little sad that the shellfish primitive doesn't come up as much as it used to.

Another is Separate, which I was having all kinds of problems with, until I discovered that the way to kill the demon of 10,000 mouths, you must cut off his main proboscis mouth with a saber.

I am only up to 194 at this point.. So more and better stories are coming I am sure.

I've possibly made other stories that may have been a little more effective, but I can't remember them right now...

this is my favorite recent one...

1940 猟 game-hunting

This pack of "wild" dogs is well trained to assist in the day's game-hunting, the wind won't hinder them as they race through the field of cornstalks chasing down the prey, the owl.

My story for window 窓 might be helpful for those who watched Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window". There are some other stories based on movies, music, books, etc., but another one that I think can really stick (pun intended) is hit 当. ;-)

Hah hah! Here's a related one

1933 獣 animal

The owl is such an animal, sailing over the ricefields for hours just to get one mouthful of that most delicious of prey - the [i]chihuahua!

This is one that sticks out in my mind

709 beat 撃
In a valiant effort to beat Dr. Wily and his minions, Mega Man turns his dog Rush into a car, shoots missiles from his hand cannon, and summons the help of his robotic bird Beat.

I have one similar to Jimmy's. It's not my favorite I'm sure, but I came up with it today and it's pretty easy to remember.

386 proceed 赴
If you run fast enough, you can get the magic flute and proceed to World 4. (Mario 3 ftw)

Nice guys!

Mine: vessels

The navy private was sleeping in the bunker of his vessel when he wakes up to find an evil turkey, who rams its head into his crotch owwwwwwwwwwww. It wasn't just this private either. The turkey became famous for boarding different vessels in the naval yard and WHAM! nailing people in the nuts while they are sleeping!

Maybe because it was late, but I made myself laugh out loud with this one:

恭 respect

As a sign of respect, I give my two-headed monster a valentine. It reads:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
God, you're a freak,
But I still love you.

I dont' think I shared these stories, but my "person" primitive was Spongebob Squarepants. That was a really fun chapter for me.

I have 2 favourites:

ambition 望- after the death of my flesh my ambition is to be a king in my next life

and mirror 鏡- a kogyaru (Japanese teen girl) holding a small metal metal mirror. On the right we see her standing on the corner in Shibuya with a heavy sun tan and long legs. A vivid image if you live in Tokyo!

I have 2 favorites:

太 - plump - fat("plump") men always have small penises.....the kanji is a combination of "large" with a drop(representing the small penis between his legs)

鉢 - bowl - Imagine the "Golden Bowl" as an award to the author of the most outstanding book of the year. The award is in the shape of bowl as a joke to promote the "starving artist" stereotype.

Here's another funny one I just came up with.

題 - topic - You change the topic just so that you can get head from that hot babe you want to bang.

I have had stories that were more tight and streamlined, but I was really happy with the stroke of inspiration that tied up the monstrous (4-5 constituent primitives) kanjis for INDICATIONS, PENAL, and DELICATE into a somewhat neat package by bringing in my favorite scene from Conan the Barbarian. Contemplate that on the tree of woe, Baby...

I remembered this one today:

洋 ocean
The captain of a "sheeping" ship in the ocean off the coast of New Zealand is obsessed with the giant white sheep. Ahab says, "Yar, that's not sea foam. Tis wool! Man the harpoons! Sharpen the sheers!".

Two in a row:

詳 detailed
Trembling from head to hoof from such a traumatic experience, the sheep gives a very detailed worded account to the detective about his wolf attack. "We need more details Mr. Sheep. Tell us exactly where the baaad man touched you".

My favourite story by myself is a two part story, frame 836 and 837 form one story that serve to remember both characters due to Heisig's suggestion to learn them in conjunction.

Ring
In conjunction with send back (FRAME 837)....... When I tried to give her the jewel ring, she eyed me, threw it to the floor, opened her mouth and tried to speak, she said nothing. She grabbed her scarf and left.

Send Back
Continued from ring (FRAME 836)....... So I'm on the road going to send back the ring minus the jewel, the hit to the floor knocked it out.

Both these characters gave me lots of trouble and nobody's storied were sticking for me, now I've got them both down in memory.
