Moderator needed - ファブリス - 2009-09-09

I will be on vacation between Sept 15 and Sept 26 and it would be great to have at least one moderator to take care of the forum during my absence.

Your most important task will be to delete spam as soon as it appears on the forum. So if you want to apply the most important is that you can visit the forum at least once a day during these 10 days. You should also have a look at the forum guidelines and feel comfortable with it.

There will otherwise be hardly any work to do, as this community is self-regulating. But you could also take this opportunity to do some sorting of topics between the sub forums, sticky new topics, etc.

If you are interested please send me an email (use the forum email or the main site's contact form). Make sure to mention your exact username.

Since I may get more than one reply, I'll have to pick someone. I'll look at any of these:

- how long you have been registered: you should be a registered member for half a year at least, the more the better

- you should have posted regularly in the past but post count is not the most important, just positive participation

- laidback attitude: you've gotta resist that "Close topic" and "Delete topic"' buttons Wink

I may get a handful of replies or more.. so I will not reply directly by email but will post here later with an update. If you like the job you could continue with moderator status after 26 Sept, unless there is negative feedback in which case we'll throw a vote or something.

I have never received a direct request for a moderator role, so this may encourage someone to take up this role.

Don't be shy. The only serious expectation I'll have of you is to keep an eye on the forum for 10 days and take care of spam, which will probably not show up at all either. After that it's up to you. You can easily move back to regular member status if you like, just le me know.

Disclaimer : I've not done Heisig and don't understand what you are saying there either (though am familiar with all the Kanji there)

For the moderator position, I doubt it matters much since this board is very civil. Tobberoth or Jarvik7 would be my nominations though Smile

Sorry for the miscommunication. I was expecting a direct proposition via email. That's a position with a responsibility so I didn't want to set up someone as moderator without this person sending a request first.

I received a proposal from sprutnik and kazelee. Both registered more than a year ago. I had to pick one person so I looked at the registration date for now as I think both persons would have done a fine job. That was a pretty close "match": kazelee registered just one day earlier than sprutnik. :-)

I'm sorry for the index page. The "Moderated by" indication could be more subtle, but since there never was a moderator before that's one area of the forum that wasn't entirely designed. I can't change it right now as I'll be offline pretty soon.. until 27 Sept. I hope kazelee don't mind too much.
