Registered for the JLPT2. - mezbup - 2009-08-27 Woot. Just registered for it today... Now, i've got until the 6th of december to cram KO and KM2kyuu into my head as well as the equivalent understanding of spoken Japanese. Oh god what have we gotten ourselves into people? Registered for the JLPT2. - Nii87 - 2009-08-27 Ah you reminded me, I need to apply to the JLPT3. Registered for the JLPT2. - blackmacros - 2009-08-27 Sent my 1kyuu registration in yesterday. Registered for the JLPT2. - Evil_Dragon - 2009-08-27 Still don't know which level to apply for... Level 2 would be too easy, Level 1 is perhaps still a bit early. Listening and Kanji are fine, but vocabulary.. oh vocabulary... Registered for the JLPT2. - mezbup - 2009-08-27 Evil_Dragon Wrote:Still don't know which level to apply for... Listening and Kanji are fine, but vocabulary.. oh vocabulary...I know what you mean. 3kyuu would be easy enough for me but it's not worth shit all so I gotta go for 2kyuu and boy is that one hell of a stretch! Especially since its only once a year. Does anyone know if its going to twice a year in all countries or just in asia? Especially since its only once a year. I have the same dilemma as you guys. JLPT2 (need to work REALLY hard from now on) or JLPT3? =( Registered for the JLPT2. - greatfool - 2009-08-28 I'm trying to decide between 1 or 2 right now (have till September 25th I think.) 2 would be fairly easy given that I keep my study up at a minimal level. Passing 1 would be very challenging at this point, I'd need probably +2500 vocab words between now and then + a lot of grammar. My dilemma is that this is my last chance to take the old style JLPT 1 and get it on my resume. The next exams will be July in Japan, I believe, and will use the new 5 levels and harder JLPT 1. I'm not against a harder JLPT 1 in the long run, but think about the short run, we could be screwed. We will go from a very clear precise test requirements with tons of available practice tests and learning material to NO practice tests (per new policy if I'm reading it right) and NO commonly available practice material, at least probably not by next year. Registered for the JLPT2. - Tobberoth - 2009-08-28 Don't worry, JLPT1 isn't supposed to become much harder, it's just supposed to let people who are REALLY good show it. So you can no longer rely on, for example, having good grammar and kanji/vocab skills pulling you through because your listening skills are bad. Registered for the JLPT2. - Tykkylumi - 2009-08-28 Well, that's a good thing I guess (to look on the bright side). It would mean someone who passes the JLPT would have a more rounded understanding of Japanese. Registered for the JLPT2. - greatfool - 2009-08-28 I was just thinking, does anyone have primary source information on the changes, either in Japanese or English? All I've heard has been like 7th hand internet news Registered for the JLPT2. - rrrrrray - 2009-08-28 greatfool Wrote:I was just thinking, does anyone have primary source information on the changes, either in Japanese or English? You mean this? http://www.jlpt.jp/e/info/index.html Registered for the JLPT2. - travis - 2009-08-28 http://www.jlpt.jp/j/about/new-jlpt.html Registered for the JLPT2. - mezbup - 2009-08-28 greatfool Wrote:I'm trying to decide between 1 or 2 right now (have till September 25th I think.)Same boat we're in. Haha. Except I have to work SUPER hard to get JLPT2 but i've got my test voucher so I'm already committed. I'm 1/3 the way through KO right now (half way in 5 days ) and I have to make it all the way through KM2kyuu aswell as really polishing up my listening skills. INTENSE.
Registered for the JLPT2. - blackmacros - 2009-08-28 Yeah I don wonder about the new set of tests. Its a great unknown. That's one more factor that made me do 1 and not 2. @mezbup I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off! Nothing like a fire under your ass and a goal to make you worker harder Judging from how fast you say you're going through KO, though, you should be able to finish KO and KM quite easily before the test. And then its just a matter of honing your skills I guess. Me, though...I'm just about to finish KM1kyuu today, and I still have 6000 vocab words ahead of me. I'm going to be pushing until the very last second just to cram all the required information.
Registered for the JLPT2. - ocircle - 2009-08-29 mmm yeah JLPT1 is going to be a blast. I never would've guessed this a few months ago, but JLPT2 seems easy now :O Registered for the JLPT2. - greatfool - 2009-08-30 Thanks for the links! I may have my browser set wrong but the Japanese one is nigh unreadable since its got the kana for every compound in tiny parenthases. I guess I was slightly misinformed about the JLPT1 since its not supposed to be getting harder to pass, just allows you to demonstrate more ability. If you can just continue to list JLPT 1 passed on your resume it shouldn't make too much difference, but maybe they are trying to move toward a system where you list your score, like JLPT 1 pass with 83% or something? Registered for the JLPT2. - travis - 2009-08-31 Believe it or not, HTML has a ruby tag and those readings in brackets are supposed to be displayed above the kanji, but only IE supports it :o The bug was filed for Firefox all the way back in 2000. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33339 Registered for the JLPT2. - theasianpleaser - 2009-08-31 The JLPT level I applied for is OVER 9000!!!! Edit: Someone please get this poor attempt of humor. Registered for the JLPT2. - jzanj - 2009-09-23 Is that supposed to be a reference to DBZ?
Registered for the JLPT2. - mezbup - 2009-09-23 Ugh I've been lagging behind in my study a little but i'm right back into and have made really good progress so far. I hope it will be enough to pass. |
