Kanji #279; Crossing >> Are there 2 ways to write this? - animehunter123 - 2011-02-10

Hi guys,

Kanji Question... I sometimes see the "Road" radical but with 2 dots on it. Which way is correct?

This has to do with the Unicode standard and how your browser displays the kanji. One and the same kanji can appear in two different ways. For instance in Firefox i see two "dots" to the left of 遽. So in my opinion if you keep writing it with one dot instead of two it is correct as well.

Try it yourself and see how one and the same kanji is looking different in another browser.

Some kanji work with either one dot or two, but one version might be preferable, it seems. I agree that it's a font difference when you see such variations. If you want, you can remember the two dot version as "icy road", a tip I picked up from the stories here.
