Anki fails on automatic readings: how to correct? - YogaSpirit - 2009-08-15
通り means "street, avenue" and is pronounced どおり。
But in my cards, Anki transcripts the reading of the kanji like this: 通[とお]り.
I corrected this manually, but each time I need to regenerate the readings of my deck, Anki put its wrong transcription back, that is [とお].
What's the best solution to solve the issue?

Maybe put the answer in kanji and the question for the word in hirigana? Not ideal but you know...would save the headache.

If you already know that's what it is... then you can spot that anki is wrong and it wont really matter? I know it's not perfect but you should just ignore it. Unless you need street names for a specific purpose.

Actually, it IS pronounced とおり。When placed in front of a place name the と often becomes a ど, but that happens on a case by case basis - a number of the biggest streets in the place I live are read とおり。
As others have said, you shouldn't have any need to regenerate readings.

As for myself, I generate readings as I am entering sentences and check them as they go in.

Second, this is the correct reading because Anki is generating the reading for the kanji minus the okurigana

If you leave it as "通[とお]り" you will see everything between "[ ]" in superscript in your answer field.
