Sticky for Survival Japanese - chamcham - 2009-07-17 I was thinking it'd be a nice idea to have a sticky with Anki decks for survival japanese. By "survival" japanese, I'm really referring to "situational" japanese. So for example, there could be anki decks for "at the supermarket", "at the movie theater", "watching TV", "at the restaurant", etc. It would consist of Anki decks that people could collaborate together on. For example, what if the "at the restaurant" deck started with these phrases: http://japanese.about.com/blsjp49.htm http://www.japaninyourpalm.com/language/phrases/attherestaurant.htm Lately, I've been using SRS and going from English sentences to Japanese. So I'd take the English sentence and think up what I'd say in Japanese and then compare it to the survival phrases listed in various books. I think it's really helpful since you get good at thinking about what to say in Japanese. The English sentence really isn't that important and is more of a guide. So exact translation is not recommend. Just capturing the gist of the expression is all I'm looking for. Anyway, let me know what you think. |
