Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - ta12121 - 2011-01-18 mezbup Wrote:I know it's a controversial thing to say... but lately I feel I can say I'm fluent in Japanese and mean it.cool. For me I'm starting to get confident in reading/listening to Japanese. I've reached 2496 unique kanji in my vocab deck. And sentence deck around 2100+ My goal for kanji is somewhere around 3500+>round that to 4000 and that's my goal. (Sure it will take a few years probably. I only expect to get to 3000 kanji by the end of this year. Hopefully...) But I've found that, best way to add new srs cards is from contexts. Not just plain pre-minded lists, etc. They are helpful but in the later phases, I'm all in finding ways of extracting context/readings off of what I read. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Dustin_Calgary - 2011-01-24 Well officially finishing my 2nd round of RTK is one thing, and a week later, I'M STILL HERE! I've got my reviews down to about 100 per day and diminishing. Finally officially exported to anki as well, now that I don't need to be looking at stories, like ever :p The odd time I need to I will pop into there and look. Hitting 11k reviews on this site, will have to keep track of it so that I know exactly how many reviews I've done between this site and my anki reps. Filled up a thick spiral notebook with kanji reps ( partly from my last runthrough but mostly from this time around ) With the reviews dieing down I may never finish this next book, but that's ok ![]() Finally can hit these sentences harder! Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - vinniram - 2011-01-24 congrats Dustin! I had enough of a headache getting through RTK once, so I can only imagine the kind of effort to go through it twice! Good work ![]() I'm very happy because about a minute ago, I finished adding the last sentences from Chapter 19 of JFE into anki. Now I have chapters 20 through 27 remaining, and I'm planning to finish them before university starts at the start of March. Language learning sure is a constant, unceasing effort, because the moment you stop you lose it all! (I just noticed I reached 5031 sentences in Anki - it's a good feeling )
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Splatted - 2011-01-26 I just passed the 1500 mark in RTK. Hooray for me!^^ Congrats to everyone else on your achievements!
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - jcdietz03 - 2011-01-26 Understood 50% of Heartcatch Precure 48! Understood 70% of Heartcatch Precure 47! (48 had more monologuing which is tougher to understand) Looking forward to the finale this weekend! (note: not an achievement) Watched Star Driver 16 w/ no subtitle and enjoyed it! Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - mezbup - 2011-01-28 Finished reading my second novel in Japanese! Was much easier than my first time round seeing as I have nearly double the vocab! My reading speed is improving considerably and I'm generally really pleased with how everything is going. I've got 5 books left in the series, I'm hoping by the 7th book it's just a walk in the park. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Zorlee - 2011-01-30 Finished reading my forth novel in Japanese!! (ノルウェイの森, 上下 600+ pages) It was really, really cool. A bit weird at times, but oh well... Now I'll head for the local cinema, watch the movie and be all like "The book was so much better than the movie... And the actors, COME ON??! What's up with them?"
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Tolerence91 - 2011-01-30 Started my first novel in Japanese. Some of miyuki miyabe's works. Started Remembering the kanji 3, dumped a lot of manga into my ipod and got further in Suikoden II. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - thurd - 2011-02-01 Finished seasons 3-6 of JapanesePod101 beginner lessons and now I'm just listening to their dialogs during my commute. It really helps to bridge the gap between beginner & intermediate in listening comprehension. I went through a few of their lessons starting from the very beginning till I found one that was difficult enough but also understandable (80-90%) so it would work similarly to n+1 principle. It worked really well and by season 5 I was breezing through lessons with only sporadical problems (mainly related to unknown vocabulary which amounted to around 80 words from 3 full seasons). My only beef with JapanesePod101 is that their advertising, "front" website, unclear signup process, shady internal "offers" & payment issues (possibly a technical bug) all scream SCAM but in reality its a quite reliable site with tons of quality content. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - ta12121 - 2011-02-01 Just updating my vocab/sentence decks. I like how much production deck is going now. I'm currently deleting my duplicate cards that I seem to have collected over the months. But after I do this, I will be able to add a lot of cards at a fast pace. More srsing, more enjoyment and more learning will be done very soon. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - ofuro - 2011-02-02 Just hit the 1085 kanji mark. Really happy about it. Good luck to everyone... Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - michaeltrew - 2011-02-03 @ofuro. 早いね!I've been going since October and level pegging you at 1100. It's great when you get to this stage isn't it. I see Heisig has written a little bit of prose in next few pages time, but am saving reading it as encouragement to gt there soon. I always enjoy his little pep talks! Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - michaeltrew - 2011-02-04 Thoroughly enjoyed Heisigs little message "Once the image has strutted through the full light of imagination, it will pass on, leaving it's footprints on the interstices of the brain..." That's enough yo motivate anyone I think! Onto the next chapter! Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - nest0r - 2011-02-06 Today I (finally) used the stylus w/ touchscreen device while doing Anki reviews on my laptop. It went swimmingly. I've successfully replaced paper in all areas without losing the mnemonic benefits of fine motor skills. Do you write your kanji/vocab while doing review, does desktop Anki even support that? What about other areas besides language learning? GL to ofuro & michaeltrew, finish RTK quickly and start Japanese as fast as you can. You won't regret it
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - iMat72 - 2011-02-10 That's a ridiculous milestone I guess, but I can read basic manga quite fluently. Also, I'm making good progress with my vocab deck and my grammar book. My study method may not be perfect, but at least it's working for me. Great motivation boost!
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - gyuujuice - 2011-02-10 I went to the doctor and was able to make some conversation in mandarin today.
Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Cranks - 2011-02-11 I quit World of Warcraft today, again. I do so much Japanese that I haven't played for 2 months. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - caivano - 2011-02-11 seeing as milestones have a wide scope I have passed through 160 eps of One Piece... so that's 20mins x 160.... so 53.333333 hours.. anyway I'm gonna take a break after this storyline and watch something more useful :$ Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - jorrebenst - 2011-02-17 1000 unique kanji in my sentence deck, 2000 total sentences, AND finished the first book of KO2001, all within three days. I really feel like now is the moment it's all going to come together, like a critical point. On to the second book, and getting the 400 reviews per day down, haha. Life is beautiful =D Jorre Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - Rina - 2011-02-17 My deck has 4000 sentences! Until the end of the year it'd be awesome if I could reach 10000. Though I'll aim for 8000. Including vocab and grammar cards. Post Your Recent Milestone Achievement Here - nest0r - 2011-02-23 Cleared all failed and expired cards in my Anki decks, an accomplishment long overdue thanks to my inconsistency for the past [insert shameful timespan here]. Had 7000+ duplicates, seems I kept it as a separate model=delete=all gone! I mean, I deleted them via a different model but lucky I deleted it now then later) |
