iAnki vs Anki Mini - resolve - 2010-09-27 Not possible with either of those because they're not native apps, but it is possible to copy decks via iTunes in AnkiMobile. iAnki vs Anki Mini - Jarvik7 - 2010-09-28 They are both discontinued since ankimobile hit the appstore afaik. Though they're open source so anyone can fork it... iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-09-28 resolve Wrote:Not possible with either of those because they're not native apps, but it is possible to copy decks via iTunes in AnkiMobile. Can you elaborate how that works? ![]() And will there EVER be the possibility to exchange/sync decks without a wifi connection. The thing is I don't have a wifi-connection here. I can set it up so that my laptop that's connected only via lan-cable sends out wifi signals. It worked before, but I'm too stupid to set it up by myself and especially with Windows 7 I have no clue how it'd work. iAnki vs Anki Mini - resolve - 2010-09-29 You drag the decks or zipped media folders onto iTunes and they're automatically loaded into the app when you start it up. You can also export decks from the app back into iTunes. No lan cable or wireless connection is required, but you must manually move the decks back and forth because Apple don't provide a programmatic way to do it. iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-09-29 But that only works with your AnkiMini version, not with iAnki right? But sounds good enough for me ![]() Thanks!!
iAnki vs Anki Mini - resolve - 2010-09-29 Neither - only with AnkiMobile, which wasn't around when this thread was started. iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-09-29 Sorry, that's what I meant when I said AnkiMini. There's no trial version, is there? iAnki vs Anki Mini - resolve - 2010-09-29 Nope - maybe in the future. For now the desktop client is the 'trial'. iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-09-29 I never had a chance to try AnkiMini because I didn't want to jailbreak my ipod. iAnki is basically enough for me. All I was looking for was an option to sync without a wifi connection. If AnkiMobile offers that, then I might get it after all ![]() I know you're doing a great job anyways. Thanks again
iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-03 Sorry, but maybe somebody here can help me. I was about to buy the AnkiMobile App, so I plugged in my iPod into my new laptop for the first time. I wanted to sync, but then realized that I'd use ALL of my apps that I currently have on my iPod, also the ones I paid for. I can't afford that! I tried to use the "transfer your purchases" option, but it doesn't work. If I check the "sync app" box, then all apps on my iPod disappear in the preview window in iTunes (only the standard ones are still there), so if I'd hit the "perform" button, I'd lose all of my apps. I can't afford to buy anything expensive as long as I haven't solved this problem. I can't afford buying apps again and again. I mean the same prob will occur if I just perform a full formatting with my laptop, too, right? *sigh* That's why I hate iTunes :/ iAnki vs Anki Mini - Cheesemaster64 - 2010-10-03 As long as you are logged into your itunes account, itunes should copy all the apps off your ipod to the computer. It is strange you are having that problem... I'd contact apple support before losing all those apps! iAnki vs Anki Mini - Asriel - 2010-10-03 How about signing into iTunes and downloading them all there? They are linked to your account, so you shouldn't have to pay for them again... iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-03 Sure, but that will take FOREVER!!! Luckily there's the "purchase history", so I can see which apps I have to get again, but still ... shouldn't there be another solution? And I'm still afraid that it doesn't work and I have to pay again :/ Probably should try with one of the cheaper apps and see if they let me pay again or not
iAnki vs Anki Mini - Asriel - 2010-10-03 Well, maybe it'll take a while, but I've got no clue why it's not transferring the apps from the iPod to the computer, so that was really the next best thing that I could think of. I buy all my apps off iTunes, so I can't say I've ever had this problem :/ iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-03 Well, guess I have no other choice. The thing is I have 2 accounts and bought apps with those 2 different accounts. Reason is that at first I started out with my German account, but I live in Japan and couldn't get certain things, so I created a Japanese account using my Japanese credit card. Most recent apps I bought with my Japanese account. But what happens once I leave Japan? I can't use my Japanese account anymore. So complicated
iAnki vs Anki Mini - Asriel - 2010-10-03 Quote:The thing is I have 2 accounts and bought apps with those 2 different accounts.Well I think we've found where your problem originates... iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-03 Asriel Wrote:I just checked. It seems you can change "your region" settings as long as you don't have any money left from gift certificates and stuff (which I currently have), so basically once I leave Japan, I just can chage my country/address/ and thus payment methods, too. At least I hope so.Quote:The thing is I have 2 accounts and bought apps with those 2 different accounts.Well I think we've found where your problem originates... Well, yeah, that was stupid of me, but I was completely new to iTunes when I did that. I don't care about the few applications I bought with the other account, though. Once I got rid of everything I bought with the other account there shouldn't be a problem anymore, right? iAnki vs Anki Mini - Asriel - 2010-10-03 I've never been in the situation, so I don't know 100%, but I'm assuming the safest thing would be to download the apps that you want (from the account that you want -- Japanese one, I'm assuming) and sync your iPod, erasing the apps from the old account. If you signed into the German account on iTunes, would those apps transfer? If so, then you might transfer those onto the computer, and then download the Japanese apps, and then sync your iPod. If apps are like songs, you should be able to use them on 5 computers/devices (?) so you still might be able to use them. I'm really not sure if this would work though. iAnki vs Anki Mini - sikieiki - 2010-10-03 I just wanted to drop by and cackle at people having trouble with apple's magical devices. iAnki vs Anki Mini - hereticalrants - 2010-10-03 ...or you could use a system that runs droid and jailbreaking/whatever would not be an issue. iAnki vs Anki Mini - Jarvik7 - 2010-10-04 @sikieiki: Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair, so your juvenile post is not only not helpful but your implication is also misplaced. @hereticalrants: Android devices still need to be rooted for 100% control, and this isn't a jailbreak problem anyways. The OP simply doesn't know how to use iTunes. It would probably be an even bigger mess on the significantly less easy-to-use Android. Fix: Step 1: In itunes goto store/Authorize this computer Authorize all your accounts Step 2: Get copies of your purchases. Ideally you should have copied these from your old computer and imported to iTunes, but you can either redownload them for free or use a 3rd party software tool to copy it off your iDevice. iTunes only copies from iDevice to iTunes when you do mobile purchases, not when you create a new iTunes library on your computer. Step 3: Sync iAnki vs Anki Mini - truando - 2010-10-04 Having 2 accounts is no problem at all. I use an american and a swiss account and i switch between both at will. Leaving japan will not be a problem neither. You'll be anle to keep all the aps you purchaesed. iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-04 I was able to fix the problem earlier today, thanks for all the answer, though
iAnki vs Anki Mini - chochajin - 2010-10-04 To get back to the main topic (sorry for the OT): I read everything I could find on Damien's website about AnkiMobile, but I couldn't really find any information about how many decks (and at what size) I can sync. Is there any limit other than the capacity of my ipod? iAnki vs Anki Mini - resolve - 2010-10-04 No limit. |
