Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - TaylorSan - 2010-05-27 Ok - I'm not JB, but I'm willing to do it to get the deck to go I suppose (I know nothing about it TBH). Do you have an idea of the size it's crashing at? I just added my grammar deck which is 22.4, with no problems. My 39MB deck is largely suspended cards - 7825 cards with 4669 suspended. It's a vocabulary deck from the core 6k sorted list that I unsuspend words from as I come across them, or create cards in if they are not already there. I could possibly export a chunk of the suspended core cards, knock it down to size temporarily, and bring them back later. But then I'm not sure what I'll be trying to unsuspend..... Maybe the JB solution is the way to go. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 Splitting the deck into two would be another solution. Hopefully you won't have to wait much over a week if you decide to go that route. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - TaylorSan - 2010-05-27 Haha - just read you last message - Ok sounds great - have to figure out what UDID is first LOL - I hit you up as soon as I have that. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - squarezebra - 2010-05-27 Before I crack my wallet out and spend spend spend on this app, will it integrated with my desktop version? Like I'm already quite a way in with some of my decks and I'm not too eager to start again. Or, does this only sync with Anki-online? (I set up an account for Anki-Online and couldn't figure out how to download decks (maybe I'm stupid ))

Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - Groot - 2010-05-27 Just spent an hour reviewing, and loved it. But a couple questions. 1. In the app, is there any way to adjust the "new cards per day" attribute? I ask because I enthusiastically whizzed through my daily reviews and wanted to do some extra ones -- but I couldn't figure out how to grab a few extra cards from inside the app. I assume I have to sync with my PC, increase the "new cards per day" field there, then re-sync? It sure would be nice to be able to do everything on my iPad so that I can avoid using the PC altogether, especially when I'll be traveling. 2. I rather miss the thin little horizontal bar with green/yellow/red indicators giving me a general idea of how I'm doing today. Not a big deal.
Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 1) yep, it'll be in the first update, and 'learn more' too 2) please drop a request on http://ankimobile.uservoice.com/ and we'll see how many people want it :-) Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 Actually, just drop your votes on http://ankimobile.uservoice.com/forums/58871-general/suggestions/784091-progress-bars-numbers?ref=title if you haven't already Edit: groot has 77 posts, I have 777. Perhaps it's our lucky day? :-) Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - TaylorSan - 2010-05-27 And I'll drop #300 to say - Great App ! おめでとう resolve! Just walked the dog, watered the garden, and busted out some reps - I think this will really help me to mobile study, and spread things out through the day - ultimately leading to faster learning! Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - Sebastian - 2010-05-27 Congratulations Resolve! I wish you the best luck with this project, you deserve it. BTW, I think that having some video tutorials (like those you made for the desktop client) and more publicity would help you spread the word about Anki Iphone. The same goes for sharing the news on social networks and blogs. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - Ryuujin27 - 2010-05-27 Great job getting this released, Damien! I just bought it from the store! Worth the $25 100%. So I was playing around with it and I have to say I love how it's looking so far. Real clean interface, the kanji looks nice, the buttons are really easy to hit, etc. Just wondering if there was currently a way to edit how the reviews work yet, or if that is coming up in a later review? For example: time boxing, reviewing failed cards before new cards, etc. Those are set up on my computer deck but don't seem to sync. But, not a big deal at all! Just a creature comfort, really. I can certainly wait for them to be implemented if they aren't already. *EDIT* Potentially scrap this... I just checked my client on the computer and it seems as though I might have changed a setting I thought was enabled, which would cause it to function slightly differently than I thought. Maybe the settings do sync. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 Your study options should function the same on the iStuff - it just lacks the ability to customize them at the moment. Timeboxing is not implemented yet, but will probably come in the future. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - slivir - 2010-05-27 Perhaps this has already been asked but is there a way to use this app with an itouch with no access to a wireless network (ie. copy files over manually from the HHD)? Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 Apple provide no way to do that officially. If your touch is jailbroken, you can manually copy the files back and forth. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - slivir - 2010-05-27 Ah ok, I'll buy it anyway in the event I eventually get around to getting wireless for the home. Not too keen on jailbreaking. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 If your laptop has inbuilt wireless, I believe it's possible to get it linked to your touch via ad-hoc. I have never tried to do it myself though, so it may be a bit involved. However "Hide Statusbar" seems to acting a little weird. I had some problems with my old jailbreak, so I restored, but it still acts funky. It sometimes hides it, sometimes doesn't, and sometimes switches while reviewing. Not a big deal, but I'm looking forward to future updates! Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - resolve - 2010-05-27 There's a bug with toggling it in landscape mode, so it will only toggle when you're in portrait at the moment. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - captal - 2010-05-28 Phew- finally got my copy after sorting out those credit card issues. I also had to upgrade my iPod as I was still on version 2.2 (because I didn't need any of the features in 3 until now). Once I get that installed I'll give AnkiSRS a whirl. Lots of reviews already as well! Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - guppy - 2010-05-28 @slivir I was able to share my MacBook ethernet connection wirelessly with my ipod on a business trip. This shows how. http://mac.appstorm.net/how-to/internet-howto/sharing-your-internet-connection-via-wi-fi/ I never messed with the advanced stuff. If you have a PowerMac, I'd assume you could do the same. Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - blackmacros - 2010-05-28 So just quickly reading through this thread it seems like there is currently an issue with syncing large decks? Mine is 67 MB because I use it as a sort of media-database; I keep all of my subs2srs cards (and all my other cards) in one deck, so I can search through it and activate any media-cards containing a new word I'm learning. Will a deck this large sync with the app currently? If not I'll probably wait until an update rolls round before I buy it. I don't know whether to splash out for a new 3g ipod touch or just buy the oldest, cheapest thing. I was worried it would be much slower though.I'm also interested in the answer to this - I thought I might pick up a cheap 1gen touch (or at a pinch a 2gen) just to run this app and maybe EBPocket. How are people finding the speed on the older hardware? Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying? - kapalama - 2010-05-28 Does resolve=Damien=author of the PC version of Anki? Also, How does this Sync with Anki on my computer? |
