Yes, stupidity. I'd removed the .anki part of the s2srs template. Real smooth. But I'd gotten the fields wrong too so thanks for the help.

Hey guys, sorry I'm a bit untech savvy. I see the files are .ass .. how do I import into anki?

um, I have kind of the same problem. Trying to Import the FullMetal Alchemist deck.
I dowloaded, and extracted the files but the resulting deck is still a .RAR file and not an anki one and there is no media file with all the audio and pics in. I did the same for the the Toki wo Kekeru Shoujo deck and there was no problem.

What am doing wrong?

mmm ok, seem to be getting somewhere. Now I have a file with the audio and pics and a TSV file.
I also extracted part two of the deck and it said the deck was broken or something.

What next?

Now you just need to use anki to import the TSV file, (to make sure you get the right field mappings, just take a peak at the TSV file in notepad). Then copy the contents of the media directory to your decks media directory.

sorry, but another silly question:

I have four fields, and I can select Mapped to front, mapped to back, tags, and the fourth is on discard. I've fiddled about with it a bit but don't know what these terms mean i.e if mapped to front means audio or images.

in the tsv file, on the far left is the name of the file, next is the sound, then the image and finally japanese expression.

Try using the model in the subs2srs template deck. You should be mapping sound, images, etc to separate fields in anki. If you use the basic model, you will only have a back and front fields. So either make your own model with seperate fields, or import the subs2srs template deck (easier).

Hmm, got the Deathnote deck working, but.....all the images have English subs at the bottom.

So there's no way you can avoid accidently seeing the meaning of the sentence...makes it a bit useless for me. pity.

Ha, that deck must've been made with an old, obsolete, pre-cropping version of subs2srs. Pish posh. Still, maybe you can batch crop the images with another program? Found this on Google, haven't watched the tutorial though: http://www.tekany.com/content/batch-crop-images-using-irfanview-free

Ah, cheers! Yeh I could do a batch crop no problem; didn't think of that.

Actually this deck also doesn't include translations, so the subs might come in handy after all. This subs2srs is amazing though, definitely got to use this properly at some point!

The zshare links at the rapidspread hub still work for both parts, the rest expired. Make sure to wait 10 seconds for the redirect at that 'unknown slotname' page...

Edit: My bad, those are for Clannad...

Ok, I just tried the Clannad deck and it seems like there's something wrong.
I have the Clannad.media folder and the Clannad.tsv.
I import the tsv and the cards just say Clannad_001, with no sound.
I'm not that good with anki decks yet...Any ideas?

You need to set the card template:

Settings -> Deck Properties -> Choose your model (mine is "Japanse", maybe yours is called something different) -> Card Templates.

There's a "question" and "answer" box with "%(Something)s" written there (this means that when a card shows up or is answered, the "Something" field from the card shows up). Currently, you have set it so it shows the field with the series name and episode number, what you need to do is replace these "Something" with the appropriate fields, that is, the field where the question is (you can see how your fields are set up with "browse items" or "edit current", and the field name may not make sense; for me, "Image" is the question field and "Video" the answer field).

I just changed the format of the deck, so it showed the picture after "flipping", that way you can see the picture/english subtitle after. You might have reached the same conclusion.

Just a quick bump here along with my question. How do I get the Zettai Kareshi deck working? Well, it works for me but there is no audio. The pictures, the text (Jap/Eng), and the amount of cards (6,000+) all seem accurate. However no audio is clearly some sort of issue on my end, because the files for audio are in the media folder.

I guess the problem I must be having is what fields I'm putting where during the import process into Anki. That being said, the first field should be "Tags" followed by "Sequence Marker" and then what else? There are 5 fields I need to fill. I hope this is a simple fix, unless someone can provide different advice to help solve my issue.

Thanks again. Regardless of my problem, this Zettai Kareshi deck is pretty awesome.

If you don't have a fix, can someone point me in the direction of the English subs? I can make my own if need-be. I have the Japanese subs already.

We ought to spread this program. Make it for more languages. Like if you can find a different language to learn it from, upload that too. I'd love to see this program do better. Might help with more download links (and if it stood out a little more or got its own proper site)

I uploaded a deck for people learning English with Korean subtitles (admittedly for my gf) and did Korean to English one as well. Took me awhile to figure out how to convert .smi subtitles without breaking Korean font, lol

I added a section for non-Japanese. Dunno if that's ok or not, but meh

I've been downloading resurrection/rebirth (korean), and there's 24 episodes 1 hour each and I've managed to find subtitles for them in both languages. I could make those decks if anyone cared
