I just realised that it's the kanji for 'write'!
Ok, it's not that amazing, but I felt really proud that I idly noticed what it was without properly thinking about it. Big Grin

And RTK2 is 'read'!

But I can't read the kanji on the front of the RTK3 book .... :'(

上級: "upper level"

Remembering the Hanzi 1 also says write, but it's different from Japanese.
traditional: 寫
simplified: 写

Is your avatar picture a real kanji, Jarvik?
I hope not... trying to read that on a web page would be horrible...

If I remember correctly, Jarvik's avatar is a kanji for some type of common noodle or something?

Taito is interesting because it's a Japanese only kanji. It's as if they went "Well, we stole your system of writing, so now we are going to be better than you at it!". Not that it's even close to as hard to remember as Biang, Jarvik7s avatar Wink

Biang is very easy to remember thanks to RTK Smile.

働 is another 国字. I think that one is potentially more insulting. "You lazy Chinese have no character for work. I guess we'll have to make one up."

Yeah, but in Biang you need to remember 11 elements. In Taito, there's just two Wink. From a structural standpoint, Biang is a whole lot more complex.

Btw. on the German edition of the book (RTK 1) it's: 覚 Wink
