haha yes, it's huge!

After awhile I stopped thinking of the Kanji in terms of lessons, and simply added about 20 each day.. I can't imagine trying to add 130 in a single study session.

I've been doing them in blocks of 20 throughout the day...I just couldn't stand the thought of stretching them out. Plus when I finish, I'll be almost to 800. Smile

I have 23 more to go of lesson 3, but I'm not going to complete it tonight. I'm doing 20 today, so looks like I'll have to stick with having three left!

I never pay attention to lessons.

Oh god, that would drive me up the wall.

I always hated finishing the day on a weird number of kanji (like 1298 or something), or having only a few kanji left to complete a lesson. Ack!!

Until you get to 2042, they are *ALL* weird numbers. Smile Arbitrary, and weird. Brilliant, too, but still weird.

Actually, the introduction of a new primitive is a wonderful resting place. And the primitives have nothing to do with lessons or chapters. Lessons mean zip.

I would up (or reduce) my rate to try and end up on a nice round number (eg. 1300, 1400, or 1650 etc). I also hated it when I finished adding for the day with only like 3 kanji left in a lesson, so I would try and add them (even though I know lessons are mostly meaningless. Although, having said that the main reason I disliked not finishing a lesson was because it meant I still had a few more kanji to deal with using a particular primitive. It left me with a feeling of...incompleteness)

It was the worst when adding the last few kanji from a lesson would take me up to an uneven number. Then I had to choose between ending on a nice round number (but with those last tantalising few kanji unlearned) or ending on an uneven number.

...you might be able to tell I'm a bit neurotic.

Well that's not entirely true. Lessons tend to group the kanji according to a particular theme. Like the garments lesson, the tools lesson, the hands & fingers lesson, etc.

I've just finished lesson 22, so I've got this to look forward to tomorrowr. I think I'm going to take it easy, compared to how fast I did 21 and 22 (a day each). Will aim for 25-30 a day, rather than the 60 I've done today and yesterday.

Sigh. I couldn't finish it yesterday - I only got abotu 2/3 of the way through. I'm doing the last 25 now. Fail. Sad

Lesson 23 is huge, but if you plan for it, it's not difficult. There are logical places to split it for multiple days. I would suggest either splitting it or doing it all in one day dealing with the fails from that lesson later. I think it throws a lot of people off, but after that the lessons kind of become more manageable.

I'm doing lesson 23 too Big Grin...I'm in kanji 674 right now...
It's a long lesson, and the stories with "finger" are not very easy (well,most of them), but I plan to finish it by friday...Smile...and almost 800 then...yay

I saw that the hand prmitive was included in the kanji for ego and righteousness so I immediately changed it to Bono.

I did the first 38 of the lesson today. All the finger based kanji, my goodness. I'm thinking it'll be tough recalling them tomorrow.

Before starting the chapter, I split it up into manageable chunks, so it seems less daunting. I used primitives as markers, and split the section into 4 lessons (637-674, 675-705, 706-734 and 734-766).

I'm in between Lesson 23 and didn't know it, lol. I usually do about 10-20 per day and never pay attention to it. Upon checking I have around 60 before I finish it.

yes, this lesson IS a beast.

I don't mind spending more time with one lesson but I mind all the kanjis with similar/same primitives. like fingers/hand.

btw - does I think it might have been easier with the meaning of a "hand" instead of "finger".

f.e. there also is one primitive Heisig calls "head" though there is an original Kanji for "head".
