Anki being claimed as another company's product? - abdwef - 2009-05-13

The Anki site http://ichi2.net/anki/index.html appears to be down. I found out when my syncing stopped working.

However, a new website has showed up in its place: http://www.anki.com/

Are the two programs related, or am I missing something here?

As far as I know, that's an older product. I'm not sure if the current Anki took it's name from that one or if it's just a coincidence, but as far as I know they're two separate things.

Not so much a coincidence as the fact that "anki" (暗記) means memorize in Japanese.

Anki (暗記) means "memorization", so it's not too surprising if another Japanese learning related software used the same name.

I wouldn't say 'in its place' ... that site has been there for 8 years.

Loads fine for me. Guessing DNS propagation is probably the culprit, check it later if it doesn't load and I bet it'll work. Could probably edit your hosts file if you really need to access it sooner, but that's a pain in the neck imo.
