I just finished RTK a week or so ago and have started trying to actually read things, but I've run into a little problem. The smaller versions of some kanji look waaay different from their bigger versions. When I'm reading on my computer it's not a problem, since I can resize the font to see what it is the first time it comes up, but I can't do that for books or video games. Sometimes I can figure out what the kanji is after a little while, but other times I can't even see where the lines are supposed to be. They're just little blobs.
Anyone else had this problem?

Once you learn the readings that problem goes away naturally. It just kind of comes naturally.

The skill comes automatically as you get more exposure to the kanji, you won't need to see every line to realize what kanji it is.

I have thought many times that I should buy a good magnifying glass to use when I read manga. Unfamiliar kanji can be hard to recognize and the furigana are so tiny!!

Kanji in manga are microscopic to begin with, and then the furigana is like 1/16th the size of that, and then trying to see if it's BA or HA or PA is almost impossible without bright light and maybe even a magnifying glass.

If they're causing that much trouble you could try reading manga via pdf. Just start out at 200% and as soon as you become comfortable with that go down to 180%, then 160%, then 140% and so on.
