Hi guys,

I've recently become interested in patent translation. The job requires JLPT1, knowledge of a scientific field, and experience translating patents. If anyone has advice for breaking into this field, I would appreciate it.

In case you haven't checked it yet, this is the Japan Patent Office website. Start accumulating experience on your on as soon as possible, and it will pay back in the future.

You should start to hang out in the Honyaku group. Many of its members are patent translators. You'll pick up lots of good stuff there in any case.
