Japanese online games - cjswanson1355 - 2009-03-31 I am a total sucker for online games. I admit it. Before I was a Japanese addict I was a WoW addict. So naturally, not that I have a decent amount of Japanese under my belt, I was looking for some Japanese online games/MMORPGS which can be played from the states. And are there ways to bypass the regional filters which have been put into place? Japanese online games - Omnistegan - 2009-03-31 http://tinyurl.com/6op55v Here's a list from Japanese Wikipedia of MMORPG's. I would assume most, if not all, of these ones are available in Japanese. The most popular ones that I'm aware of are Ragnarok and FFXI Edit: From what I can tell, WoW is available in Japan but they play on the Korean servers. I'm not 100% on this, the information was spotty at best. Japanese online games - chully - 2009-03-31 吾 碁o to the cybex/cybac internet cafes 中n kyuushuu occasionally. They try to draw the online gaming crowd for obvious reasons. Here is a list 之f online games they 為o their best to accommodate. http://www.cybex.jp/game.html Japanese online games - Evil_Dragon - 2009-03-31 If I remember correctly the Japanese version of Ragnarok Online has had a free2play server for some time now. Lots of Japanese for free, but set up some Japanese music/movies or the grinding will bore you to death.
Japanese online games - Smackle - 2009-03-31 He stated that he wants one he can play in the States. Gungho, the company that operates Japanese Ragnarok Online, blocks foreign IPs. Japanese online games - zer0range - 2009-04-01 Ultima Online has Japanese servers, I believe. You have to pay to play though. Japanese online games - bombpersons - 2009-04-01 I used to play FlyFF (in english), But when I tried to sign up to the Japanese version, my IP was blocked =( Does anyone know a way around this? Link!? Japanese online games - Tobberoth - 2009-04-01 Odd, I can't get heroes in the sky to work. I've registered and I've installed the activeX control.. but when I press Gamestart, I get the following error: 該当の接続情報ではでゲームを行えません So I can't even install the game
Japanese online games - Codexus - 2009-04-01 Unfortunately a lot of online games only accept players from a specific region. I hate IP address geolocation based discrimination :/ Japanese online games - rich_f - 2009-04-01 I haven't installed it yet, but the software here: http://www.onrpg.com/boards/62115-26/#post1215872 installed with the instructions here: http://www.onrpg.com/boards/62115.html will allow you to set up a JP proxy that will allow you to play some (not all) games and use some (not all) websites that block non-JP users. Supposedly. I haven't actually tried it yet. Some will block known proxies, some won't. So much for the freedom of the internet. Japanese online games - Tobberoth - 2009-04-01 Tried the software and got it working. Unfortunately, it didn't help with the hangame problem
Japanese online games - bombpersons - 2009-04-01 0.o It's worked so far, it let me sign up for flyff, which didn't work before, and now I'm downloading the client. Hopefully it works =D Japanese online games - Codexus - 2009-04-01 Be careful when experimenting with proxies. Since they basically redirect your internet connection through a third party server that can make you vulnerable to a lot of attacks if that proxy is controlled by an ill-intentioned person. Japanese online games - cracky - 2009-04-01 The main reason I wouldn't want to use a proxy to play a game is because of the horrible lag you're gonna get. Sure you're playing on a Japanese server so it's gonna be bad anyways but making it a longer route on a congested proxy server sounds really unfun. |
