Yes its kinda weird that not showing them all, usually you get 6 days. But then I have had problems with some BBC shows and apparently its because of getting viewing permissions. Still the BBC are great.

I have been really enjoying the Japan season on the BBC. Its nice to watch films like Ping Pong etc rather than the usual anime all of the time.
Some good stuff on this saturday night if you are in (and living in the UK), they will be showing the Wabi Sabi documentary again - and yes there is some spoken Japanese in there.

Which i wayyyy better than the disappointed Japanese news channel that is full of americans and bad dubbing, nothing against americans but they have enough channels and I expect the japanese news channel to be japanese.

NHK World is disappointing. It'd be nice if everything wasn't dubbed, or at least shown dubbed then repeated in Japanese or something.
How long has this Japanese season being going on? I haven't watched BBC4/much TV for a while, I didn't realise they were having one.

Thanks for the info on that I just watched the Wabi Sabi documentary and it was very good indeed Shame that BBC iplayer is only available within the UK.
The one thing that often irritates me about westerners making documentaries about the east is that they always make the west to appear nothing but a straightforward, egotistical, instant gratifying culture. Marcel Theroux was guilty of this in parts and documenarys like Around the World in 80 Faiths are very guilty. I feel that honne and tatemae is fundamental to English culture too Also the cheesy big American style "have a nice day" is the American form of that. In no culture do people admit their feelings directly, that would just be a stupid suggestion. Every culture has their own honne tatemae, it just differs in its importance and form
Just listen to Ambient 1, Music for Airports by Brian Eno Or rather have it on and let it just enter into your sapce the when it has finished and the change occours, you can understand Wabi Sabi. To me anyway. Do others have any such examples?
