Japanese IMEs came up in the AJATT thread and there are some examples on how you actually type with some of them. I showed how T-code look when typed with dvorak layout and the thread got off topic with by discussing T-code.

This is an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one just for a silly little question.

I am currently playing a forum based Pokemon RPG in Japanese and we use Japanese angle brackets 《like these》to
enclose certain out-of-role comments. We also use 【these brackets】for other kinds of comment.

The latter are simple to type - alt/opt ( and ) when the input is in Japanese. But I can't seem to find any direct way of typing 《these brackets》directly. Currently I am just pasting them. Does anyone know a more direct method?

《》 come up as alternatives for the [] keys in google IME, if you expand the selection list like you were looking for a kanji.

《It works!》

Thank you so much.

I am using Apple's built in Kotoeri and confirm it works for that too. The brackets come a bit of a way down the list but you can "train" it to put them first if you are needing them often.

it still leaves 「」as the main (non-list) default, which, of course is what one wants.
