JLPT Level 1 (Grammar and Vocab) Question - albion - 2009-03-01

Does the JLPT level 1 cover grammar and vocab from levels 4-2?

I was thinking about taking level 1 this year, out of wanting to just have something other than my word for it on my CV rather than any requirement to have it at the moment. I have read on this forum that Japanese people don't really know what the test even is, but presently if I got a Japanese-related job it would be in the UK rather than in Japan so I'm more concerned about if that would help me here.

I've never seriously studied for the JLPT before, so I was wondering if grammar from the previous levels appear on the level 1 test. If I bought say the Kanzen Master books for level 1, would that only cover the grammar/vocab/etc new to level 1? Or would it cover everything on the test, repeats included?

Yes. Although realistically, the grammar part tends to concentrate on stuff from level 2 and level 1, with the majority from level 1.
