The most I've failed a card so far is 9 times and I'm sure it will end up being much higher although I have the majority of the 2000 cards in the 4th pile or above now but I've noticed a pattern that I keep failing the same cards over and over they really hate me

At the moment I have one 9, one 8, one 7, seven 6s. Some I eventually got on top of as show by the high number of passes. My #1 fail is 混 because of component ordering -- I always remember the elements but switch them around, confusing with 皆 (another high fail) . Remorse I mix up with regret and repent, ceremony I mix up with ritual, 賦 I forget the extra stroke at the top.

I am not really sure. I did RTK without the book and only one hour per day access to the internet. I looked for the book but, at the time, couldn't find it anywhere. So I created stories using this site and printed them out. Then I used a magic marker and poker cards to make my own flashcards. Poker cards worked really well because the slick surface allowed me to review with them quickly. I am going back and doing reviews here now and see that synonyms give me some problems.

I've failed 邸 nine times because I confuse the keywords "reside" and "residence". I always write the kanji for "reside" when "residence" comes up. I've also failed 儀 seven times because I keep confusing it with ritual or occasion or celebration. About half of the kanji I've never failed, and I have 1984 in the last stack.
