JLPT 2008 Results - Thora - 2009-02-16 Impressive. Each score is a level of achievement that many of us can only aspire to (the P/F is just an arbitrary line). And to those who showed up in spite of hangovers and broken hearts? my deepest bow...curtsy, whatever. Cheers! JLPT 2008 Results - duder - 2009-02-16 wrightak Wrote:when you think about how much people waste per credit hour on "traditional" language acquisition - i suppose 5,000円 isn't all that big a deal.duder Wrote:congrats to everyone that didnt wuss out on test day (ive got a ton of friends that signed up and didnt even go)Wow. What a waste of money. I think it comes down to the fact that Level 2 scares a lot of people and Level 1 is unimaginable JLPT 2008 Results - Jawful - 2009-02-16 I know someone who didn't go to 4kyu based on not being ready... JLPT 2008 Results - Jawful - 2009-02-16 Zero to 4kyu isn't quite a 2 day journey. However, time certainly wasn't against him after 16 months in Japan. He just had no interest in actually studying and no longer has any interest in the language whatsoever. Waste of time and money. Hope things are a bit better now! And don't look at is as a failure, esgrove. It was a learning experience. This kind of test isn't like the usual ones in school. In school, they guarantee to have taught you everything on the test. The JLPT does pretty much the opposite. They refuse to tell you what's on the test and you have to rely on the guesses of others for your studying. Now that you've done it once, you know exactly what your weak and strong areas are and you can prepare yourself next time. Let's not forget that someone who is taking JLPT4 for the first time is a complete newbie so simply putting the words and kanji into an SRS won't be even close to enough, such a person wouldn't stand a chance in neither the 読解 nor the 聴解. JLPT 2008 Results - Jarvik7 - 2009-02-16 I didn't say that there was no exaggeration I just can't imagine someone wimping out over 4級.

I wanna try that test. Can it be taken outside of Japan? JLPT 2008 Results - Jarvik7 - 2009-02-16 Murten Wrote:It can taken in certain cities outside of Japan, but nowhere near as many locations as the JLPT. Vancouver and LA both have testing centers that I know of. If you're in Japan you can apply through 7-11 on the ticket buying machine I believe. For overseas you need to find a link to the nearest testing center and contact them.megaboyx Wrote:I'll take the kanji kentei maybe level 3 in June if possible. JLPT 2008 Results - mentat_kgs - 2009-02-16 Depending on what hemisphere you are, you can even go for 1級. JLPT 2008 Results - mentat_kgs - 2009-02-16 The test here is in December, so I was talking of 10 months. JLPT 2008 Results - skellyfish - 2009-02-17 I passed 2級!! 文字・語彙 Writing/Vocab 62/100 聴解 Listening 81/100 読解・文法 Reading/Grammar 160/200 TOTAL 303/400 And that was before I started Heisig...who thinks 1級 is doable this year? I just got engaged to my Japanese boyfriend (!!) so even though I (we!!) will be heading back to the states in a few (or more...visa) months, I will have strong motivation to keep studying. Thoughts? JLPT 2008 Results - mentat_kgs - 2009-02-17 Congratulations! JLPT 2008 Results - Thora - 2009-02-17 ...on both! JLPT 2008 Results - hknamida - 2009-02-17 Congratulations to everyone who passed. I'm going to wait until they change it in 2010, and take the new 3級 or 2級, depending on my progress. JLPT 2008 Results - ghinzdra - 2009-02-18 After a single year of studying japanese (well actually november 2007 to december 2008) I passed the 2KYUU 291 on 400 !!! Back then I thought I did poorly on the test.... there is no man happier than me on the whole earth right now . ![]() ![]() From now on anyone willing to blaspheme against RTK , KO2001 and KM and Anki will have a fight to death with me : D (well maybe I won't be so adamant on KM .... it's good but it not like there aren't any other grammar book on the market... but fight to death for the previous book : no kidding) N.B : for those of you bothered by my boasting, I'm really sorry , my bad .I don't intend to harm anyone ... it's just that I'm overcome by joy after all the effort . So I need to evacuate and send message to everyone I know . JLPT 2008 Results - erlog - 2009-02-20 I passed 2級. That's quite a big accomplishment for me considering 7 months before it I was bombing out on 3級 practice tests. I studied very hard, and I learned a lot of Japanese. It's really nice to know that I have a piece of paper to prove it. I don't know my exact scores yet because I have to wait for my scores to be shipped from my Japanese university to my American university. In order to make things simpler I put my address down as the school I went to in Japan because my study abroad ended between taking the test and receiving the results. I asked the office worker who was in charge of that if he could open my results to tell me if I passed before sending them on to me here in the states. After 4 years of lazy Japanese studying and 8 months of super serious 8 hours per day studying, it's nice to have something tangible that tells me I have a handle on this Japanese thing. skellyfish Wrote:I passed 2級!!It's doable if you work really hard, but I would still say to take it even if you don't feel ready. You might have luck on your side this year, or it could be an easier exam. If it's not, you know better where you stand with your studies. This was my first year taking the test, but I'm vowing to take it every year until I pass 1級. If I'm not studying for a directly impending test, it's difficult to motivate myself to work that hard. So I could see myself announcing that I'll take 1級 the year after this one, but then I think I would just slack off. Back when I started studying up for 2級, the thing that motivated me was the amount of material I had no grasp of. I liked the game of trying to learn all of it in that short amount of time. ghinzdra Wrote:The kanzen and KO2001 have been of great help for those latter parts but when it comes to reading the only 100% reliable exercise is READ ! a lot !This is the absolute truth. Jarvik7 Wrote:One of my friends went to take 3級, but when he got to the testing place he found out that he had accidentally signed up for 1級. He was pretty choked but still took the test anyways and failed miserably.I thought you could change your level on test day? In my registration packet it said that you were allowed to do this. This next test, I hope to know enough that I'd pass 2kyuu, but I'm uncertain enough about it that I'm not signing up. In fact, I really doubt it. So congrats! |
