How do I get the Kanji stats in Anki? - KREVA - 2009-02-02

Hello. I wrote this post because I'm having trouble getting Anki to display the kanji stats. The stats I'm referring to said something along the likes of how many Kanji you've encountered and which non-jouyou kanji you've encountered etc. Has this feature been taken out? I remember I was able to do that prior to the few updates or so, but I'm not sure what to think. All I get now is the following:

Deck created:
Total number of cards:

Card counts
Mature cards:
Young cards:
Unseen cards:

Correct answers
Mature cards:
Young cards:
First-seen cards:

Averages

Interval

Settings > deck properties > pick model > edit > tags: Japanese > close > restart Anki!

Comma-separate the tags if there already are tags... (example: Heisig, Japenese)

Tools -> Kanji Statistics

That's how it is on mine.

Yeah, but the option is only there if you have a "Japenese" tag for your deck... Wink

Thank you very much!

Sorry to revive this very old thread of mine, but since I've made this post, Anki has undergone many updates and I'm having the problem of kanji stats not showing up for me despite "Japanese" being tagged. Anyone have any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

Have you downloaded the Japanese plugin? That was a change made sometime last year. (btw - in the future you might want to ask over at the Anki forum)

No, I haven't. Thanks for the info, but what is wrong with me asking here?

When it comes to Anki-specific questions, there seems to be some sort of idea that they shouldn't be asked here.

There's a few reasons for it, I presume:
1. You'll get better answers over there anyway
2. This forum isn't about Anki -- you could almost say it's about a "rival SRS" (that being RevtK)
3. ?????
4. Profit

I'm not actually too sure why. But in general, Anki questions should be directed toward the Anki forums.

It's Resolve and Fabrice's request. Ignore and suffer the scary red pen. Smile
There's more info about Japanese support in the anki wiki, if you need.

Didn't seem to be a problem last year when I made this thread, but I think I get the gist of what you're saying. Nevertheless, the problem is settled. Thanks again. Big Grin

The actual reason is:

ADMIN: Please post technical/support questions about Anki on its dedicated forum at http://groups.google.com/group/ankisrs/topics where you may also get help directly from Anki's author, resolve.

General discussions about Anki as a learning resource (ways to use it, to organize your flashcards, question/answers etc) are welcome in the "Learning resources" forum.

Note the part "General discussions about Anki as a learning resource" (software is what I meant).

People post sometimes very technical questions about Anki here. These threads can be very boring because they don't talk about learning at all, they talk about obscure settings and files to copy, and whatnot. Somedays they were 3 or 4 swamping the recent topic list. This gave the impression that you were visiting an Anki discussion forum. This is not acceptable to me, nor is it reasonable.
