sorry, i know it's in here somewhere buy i could no longer search this thread for the answer: i have a copy of windows 7, uninstalled as of yet. what is the recommended route for using Subs2SRS and other cb4960 stuff on a mac? should i use virtualbox with windows, or should i simply go the mono route? thanks :/

on my linux mint 13 it works well with wine except for preview audio.
I'm not sure what dotnet version is installed in the prefix, but I quess its an up to date version since its my "experimental prefix"(i install and test things there first, and it breaks some times, becaus silly me is installing incompatible dll files and such^^).
not sure if wine is more work than seting up a virtual box on mac, but for linux wine is pretty comfortable.

Aside from Gokusen, dramas seem to be rated a lot more difficult than some other material reviewed on the site though, so perhaps they're not your best bet.

The files have been imported and work fine but lack any kana (This is difficult with accented voices, I need to be sure of what I'm hearing). I installed Japanese support and added at the back of the card template {{kana:Reading}}. I viewed the deck in Browse and selected all cards > Bulk Add Readings, but nothing comes up.
Any ideas?

If you can get a .mkv video with softsubs, use MKVToolNix to extract them.

And now that you mention it, I should probably include some kind of interface to MKVToolNix in the tools menu to make it a bit easier for people to extract the subtitles from .mkv files.

Hi everyone,
I'm really eager to start using subs2srs. I always seem to have trouble using anki and anki plugins the first time around so some advice would be appreciated. If I find something I want to use for subs2srs how do I go about it? I read the help page but I did not find answers to all my questions there.
Do I need to download the drama or anime I want to use? Do I need to find a copy of the english script or will english subtitles be sufficient? I know I need the japanese script. Do I need to convert any or all of these files to different formats?

I have one more question when you get a chance. I have a dvd I was going to use and the subtitles in japanese. Before I convert the the dvd in handbrake I wanted to double check on a few things.
The japanese subs I downloaded off kitsunekko start at 42 seconds. In the dvd however the talking starts immediately. Basically the dvd/audio starts seconds is 42 seconds before the script. Is there a simple way to just change the timing of the subs to match the video?
The downloaded video is 23m:35s long, but the script starts at 00:42s and ends at 24m:07s.
Even the second episode's subtitle scripts start at like 3:15s

● Added ability to extract subtitles from .mkv files. Simply enter a .mkv file into the Subs1 or Subs2 textbox and subs2srs will prompt you to select one of the .mkv file's subtitle tracks. subs2srs will then extract the subtitle track to a temporary file and place this temporarly file in the Subs1/Subs2 textbox.
● Added timing information to the preview.

● The audio preview no longer locks up the interface while extracting the audio from the video file.

extracting subtitles from .mkv files is a great feature. makes it easy to obtain subs from anime that come with embedded subs only. thanks for that!
I was wondering why generating snapshots of 10-bit encoded anime took about a minute for a single screenshot, is there any way i could fix that? it used to take longer before i switched to a SSD.
ffmpeg uses up to 100% of my CPU (i5) in task manager when generating screenshots - and snapshot preview freezes subs2srs unless you deactivate it. my drivers and everything should be fine, running Win8 x64. this problem only occurs with 10-bit anime which is sad since most high quality shows use that nowadays.

@keikei,
I tried to reproduce your issue using 10-bit encoded episodes from several different anime with no luck. Perhaps this issue is unique to Windows 8? Are any other Windows 8 users seeing this issue? Could also be an aggressive anti-virus software or something of that nature I suppose.
