KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Nukemarine - 2009-05-24 I'm not sure if Zansibar is going to finish 556-570, so I'll delete his name on that. Great work Hashiriya. KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-25 2001.Kanji.Odyssey 556 - 570 will be next then... Nukemarine, if only I had caught your last post a little earlier... I posted the link for 556-570 ages ago. It's on page 7 of this thread. :{ Hashiriya, major kudos: you're working through these lists like a demon. I should be freed up at work by the end of the week; I'll be happy to pitch in then--if there are any left for me to finish, that is...
KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-25 706 - 720 completed: http://smart.fm/lists/92033 the reason i'm going through these lists like this is because my goal is to complete studying the entire Kanji Odyssey sometime early next year... i've ran out of compiled lists to study, so i was continuing to make some more any help is much appreciated... i'm watching Animax on http://www.justin.tv while i am making the lists so at least i'm getting listening practice in going to do 721 - 735 next by the way, i notice the 1st post on this thread only goes up to 1100 kanji.... i'm planning on going up to the whole 2001... that is the intent of this project right? KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-25 721 -735 completed: http://smart.fm/lists/92049 736-750 is next KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-25 736-750 completed: http://smart.fm/lists/92059 751-765 is next KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-26 751-765 is completed: http://smart.fm/lists/92086 can someone compile the other lists please? KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - bodhisamaya - 2009-05-26 @Hashiriya If I can just get you to make a list for the entries from The Kanji Dictionary, I may catch your 4800 items completed. http://www.amazon.com/Kanji-Dictionary-Mark-Spahn/dp/0804820589 KO2001 should be a permanent fixture on the Showcase lists. Smart.fm should swallow their pride and admit these lists are far superior to the Core steps and do a huge service to those using their website. Going from Step 2 to Step 3 in Core was like hitting a brick wall. So far I have almost finished five of the six KO200l lists hardly breaking my stride at all (over 75% on them all anyways).
KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-26 it's a shame i don't get paid cash for this isn't it? lol i do agree that the KO2001 lists are a step above the Core series... there was a monster wall for me at the 6000 series but now since i have been doing KO2001 sentences, i have noticed i'm able to understand the 6000 series much more clearly now... i think i may do these ALC Daily expressions in Anki once i finish KO2001: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=rXF-7fsN1oFFAQWqTzxYj0A&hl=en that and Tae Kim might give me the speaking boost that i need... KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Nukemarine - 2009-05-26 Zanzibar, I'm very sorry for missing that. Hashiriya, appoligies as well since it sort of ate an hour of your time. Bodhi, while I think this group of lists should be listed as course, Smart.fm may not choose to do so due to copyright issues. These organized lists are derived from a published source after all. That's part of the reason I've been adding links to all the compiled lists in the descriptions area. However, smart.fm could (and should) rearrange their own vocabulary lists in an order that's similar to what coscom did. Here's an interesting thought: For Japanese learning English, reverse engineering this concept could be doable. You organize the English vocabulary words via the Japanese one or two word description. The English words would then be in quasi-similar themes with with increasing order of difficulty. Something else smart.fm can think about. KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-26 i'm starting 2001.Kanji.Odyssey 766-780 now KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - wccrawford - 2009-05-26 Hashiriya Wrote:i've ran out of compiled lists to study,You're a monster. ![]() Hashiriya Wrote:by the way, i notice the 1st post on this thread only goes up to 1100 kanji.... i'm planning on going up to the whole 2001... that is the intent of this project right?I had planned to keep going with it past 1100, but only if I find it's still useful after 1100... I have a feeling that it won't be as useful at that point, and I was considering switching to sentences after that, or maybe just daily input with no studying at all. What I've found is that my study methods change as my proficiency does. What used to be super useful is now just a time waster, and what used to be impossible is helping a lot. KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-26 2001.Kanji.Odyssey 766-780 is complete: http://smart.fm/lists/92404 i think i'm going to take a little break for now and study some of the lists... anybody feel free to help out i'll lend a hand again later on...

Creating those lists has probably given you an insight into kanji you wouldn't have gotten studying lists others have made. I spent most of my days off over the last few months creating Tibetan language lists I am pretty sure no one besides I will complete. I know if I am putting it out there for potentially others to use, I'd better be pretty darn sure they have few or no errors. So that attention to detail sticks subtle nuances into my mind I would have otherwise overlooked. You are still young and have your career building years ahead of you as well. With so few Americans who care to learn a foreign language, much less an impossible one by most people's opinion like Japanese, you will have a real edge. At 40, my motivation is shifting more to not letting this language defeat me. A battle to the death against my own ignorance. Utilize the word lists from the KO2001 CD. I assume the first 3 words per kanji should be good enough (at least 1 kunyomi and 2 onyomi words). B. Wait till Coscom releases books three and four with their pre-selected words. C. Wait till Coscom creates their own list on Smart.fm I'll be honest and say I thought the project would be for just the 1100 kanji on the hopes it'll encourage Coscom to do a more official submission based on reception of it. KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-05-27 actually i was planning on using all the kanji compounds on the rest of the 2001 kanji CD... the more words i have associated with kanji the easier they are to remember IMO there is only like 3 or 4 words for each kanji on the rest of them anyways... i think i will continue on regardless and i welcome anyone who wants to join in and help
