Wow, only four more slots left.

Oddly enough, after this, one could create a mega spreadsheet via:

1. Down load all mega lists via Anki (to get audio and images)
2. Export Anki file into .csv spreadsheet.
3. Using list feature, get Vocabulary information.
4. Add vocabulary info to .csv spreadsheet.
5. Import it all back into Anki.

Not sure what use anyone could have with such a file though. Optimal organized word list, professionally read sentences, with world's best SRS. Yep, no clue what so ever.

Basically K02001, only a lot more interesting? God, the audio on the K02001 deck bores me to death, at least the voice actors who do the smart.fm sentences put some effort to make it sound a little interesting.

1081-1110 is complete http://smart.fm/lists/116008
there was actually 1110 in the 1st two books not 1100 as Nukemarine had posted... i went ahead and did the last 10 to finish it off... i think we are still waiting on zanzibar`s 901-915 and then we will have it all completed... i've been watching アニマックスwhile i was making the lists so at least i got some listening practice in Wink
we'll still need somebody to compile the lists so anyone feel free to volunteer to do so...
like i said before, after i study these lists on smart.fm, i'll return and help create lists for the remaining 891 kanji... i hope plenty of people volunteer to help out then Tongue

Thanks for the link =D

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Nukemarine - 2009-07-28

Sorry about the mistake Hashiriya and thanks for covering it. I think you did 2/3rds of the entries so outstanding work. Now just for the last link, then the merged links.

Now that it's all pretty much said and done, I think the last thing is put links for the whole list on each of the separate lists on smart.fm. If ever smart.fm allows for mega lists of 5000 or more, then it's a cinch to merge these into that.

Hashiriya, as you've been doing these, any problems with some of the words and the sentences chosen for them?

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-07-28

i`ve noticed in past lists some words will be pronounced one way on the voice and read another way in the sentence such as 流行 (はやり) or (りゅうこう) but overall i think ever thing is fine with them..

Hashiriya, I've said it before, but you in particular have done some fine work here. Only wish I could have helped you a bit more. Well, guess there's always the next 800 or so... Smile

Thanks for all the awesome work, everyone! And especially you, Hashiriya... You're a madman! Big Grin

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Hashiriya - 2009-07-29

no problem guys Wink any help on the future ones would be great Smile

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - avparker - 2009-07-29

Yeah, this is a really incredible effort!

PS: I've imported up to 630 into Anki okay, but one of the items in 631-720 causes the plugin to fail due to an empty "Expression". I've turned off my deck validation, and will let you know if I can figure out what item it was.

Edit: looks like it's sentence:319479

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - bandwidthjunkie - 2009-07-29

This is truely great work! Thanks for this, it is a really great resource.

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - brianobush - 2009-07-29

Does this effort contain only sentences from the book?
There is a whole series of workbook pdf files on their site...
http://www.coscom.co.jp/japanesekanji/kanji03_workbook1.html

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Nukemarine - 2009-07-29

Brian, no, what we did was take the vocabulary from the left hand page of KO2001 and used those to to make vocab lists in Smart.fm, which we then added sentences for those words.

Smart.fm sentences used were mainly from the Core list, which are ok Japanese sentences and professionally spoken by voice actors. Barring that, we used sentences that were present. Barring that, no sentence was used.

The PDF workbook is cool by the way. In fact, we should link to that workbook on all the KO2001 lists in Smart.fm. Thanks for reminding me.

Wow, those are awesome. Coscom's stuff has definitely been worth the money.

Sorry to interrupt/digress a little bit, but if you're going on to do all of Japanese Core (6000) and were in no particular hurry, would you bother doing KO? This is more of a hindsight/for posterity sort of question.

Hmm, think I just answered my own question.

Anyways, congratulations on completing your project! Extra kudos to Hashiriya. I wish I'd had this last year. ;p

Also, w/ Anki plugin, it's possible to export these lists to decks, right?

KO2001 and iKnow (Group Effort Request) - Nukemarine - 2009-07-30

I find that it's best to treat them as either/or if you're going to use them straight through. Like with grammar, do either Tae Kim or UBJG, but don't do both since it's a lot of repeated effort.

If you're like me, I've started using Core 6000 as a vocabulary sentence corpus, which I activate as I come across new words while sentence mining dramas. In that case, adding in new sentences from KO2001 list that are not in Core 6000 can be useful.

If you're doing this on Smart.fm, you can easily do both, since the system tracks your progress on the words. So, what you do on KO2001 you won't have to do on Core 6000 and vice versa.

If you're using Anki, it's not too difficult to make the Vocabulary-Kanji field to be unique. You then import both Core 6000 and KO2001, remove obvious duplicate entries, add numbers to entries that have same vocabulary but different meanings.

No matter your methods, it's a win all around.

Thanks Nuke. I think so too.

This is awesome!!

One thing though, when I try to import to Anki using the import plugin I get this error (from the plugins folder log file)
