I check all the Heisig keywords against Halpern's keyword (Kodansha kanji learner's dictionary), and am usually satisfied with Heisig's choice. If not, I change it (after checking the back of Heisig so as not to use a later keyword).
Halpern is doing the same thing--trying to find that one English word that will give you the overall "feeling" for the kanji's meaning.
Now I'm going to go read MeisterLlama's thread!
