Home on PS3 - Hashiriya - 2008-12-10

so Home (the game) is supposed to be released on PS3 tomorrow in North America... i assume it's coming out in japan on the same day... i just wanted to give everybody a heads up who had a PS3 and a Japanese account... with voice and chat it might be a good opportunity to put your Japanese into practice... i'll probably give it a go as soon as it becomes available for download...

it should connect just fine... i don't live in japan and i have no problem connecting to the servers for the ps3 store and stuff...

If you have access to 1 version of Home, you have access to them all. Just download it on the account you have accesss to and then log in with the other one. I know because I managed to get into the JP beta and then logged in with my US account, then managed to get a code for the US beta and gave it to my Norwegian friend.

wow! i just got done playing home in japanese and i got to say it is really awesome Wink i talked to quite a few people on there and they were all really surprised to see a gaijin on there haha! apparently japanese people don't like the mic feature though as i was the only person on there talking with a mic. i'm really shocked at how much japanese i could understand from everyone though and we had several little conversations.. they said sometimes gaijin played with them on xbox live too... with the japanese game trailers and stuff playing in the background i really felt like i was in japan for a moment! i can say this a definite game to play if you guys own a ps3! it's the most immersive game i have experienced yet... anyways... check it out Wink

Heck, I might get a PS3 just for this... I don't really know much about [the new generation] game consoles though...

Is Home free? Will it cost anything if I get a PS3 after the beta is over?

yes home is free Smile it should remain free even after the beta too... the new generation consoles are the same as the old ones... just with prettier graphics so no worries if you decide to pick one up... i really recommend a 1080p tv though as is makes reading the kanji a heck of a lot easier...

Bah, I barely have enough for a PS3, let alone games, and a 1080p [or even 1080i] tv is just out of the question!

Heh. I just got on this. You are right about the mic. No one speaks. Sadness....

yeh i tried out the north american version the next day though and i didn't like it as much... i liked how the japanese version had the white night chronicles party and the dissidia previews... it would be a lot better if more japanese used mics though...

I managed to coax one person into using the mic by saying hello over and over and pretending like I couldnt read what he was typing. The only problem was that one he turned the mic on I remembered I can't really say much in Japanese, lol.

I tried the American version first. When I tried the Japanese it was like, WTF this seems a lot better (architecture wise). And there seemed to be more people too.

It is for sure, there is also a huge Japanese presence on Second Life so it's not hard to find people to talk to.

I've spent a lot of time in Japanese Home, mostly before I started RTK.

Things I've learnt:
- Japanese can type *really* fast (I think they all pretty much use USB keyboards).
- NO ONE can speak proper English. I've met like 1 person who was willing and able.
- Lots and lots and lots of slang.

It's really cool, wish I could understand it..
