Using flashcards... - Jeffu - 2008-12-09 First let me say Hi!...I'm brand new here and just started RTK1. Reading through the intro to the book, Heisig says we should not review the kanji we have studied too soon because that will prevent our long term memory from kicking in and internalizing the kanji. So how can I incorporate using flashcards into the system? Hope I made sense here... Using flashcards... - QuackingShoe - 2008-12-09 For a really hassle-free way, you can just use the incorporated SRS on this website at http://www.kanji.koohii.com . Using flashcards... - haplology - 2008-12-09 Do people have any thoughts on using Anki - whether to just use built in scheduling or tweak at all for RTK? I use Anki for reviews and the site for helping with stories. Using flashcards... - Tobberoth - 2008-12-09 I use the site for everything, less hassle. Using flashcards... - shakkun - 2008-12-09 Anki comes with a Heisig deck, so it's the exact same amount of hassle. Using flashcards... - rich_f - 2008-12-09 Anki has an excellent algorithm, and can be customized a variety of ways. This site is excellent, too. You really can't go wrong with either one. The Heisig deck doesn't come with the stories on the site, the main "awesome thing" about this site. Getting the stories from the site to the Anki deck is a lot more hassel than simply pressing the copy story button in the site. Then again, I have other reasons for using the site instead of Anki. In particular, I prefer the "failed" system of the site, it forces me to actively work on the kanji I don't remember well. Using flashcards... - Wisher - 2008-12-13 If you invest a little bit of time and money, you can make your own flashcard out of cardstock from your computer. Download the PDF file at http://www.polarcloud.com , print them out, then cut them out. It takes a little bit if time but well worth it. You can review without a computer, anytime, anywhere, on the bus, taxi, lunch break, getting your oil changed, etc. As far as what Heisig recommends, you will be reviewing a lot anyway. Unless you have a super brain, you will use these alot. Hope this helps. Wisher |
