Eikaiwa Schools - bodhisamaya - 2008-12-04 mentat_kgs Wrote:Weird. There are Japanese who want to learn Portuguese? There are tons of Nisei Brazilians working factory jobs 12 hours a day, rotating shifts, in Aichi and Shiga perfecture along with the Chinese for little pay. I worked one of those jobs for three months. Back-breaking work! Eikaiwa Schools - phauna - 2008-12-04 I think you'll find that languages other than English are just hobbies for the Japanese. Therefore not as deserving of time and money. However English is kind of the road to wealth and power in many Japanese people's minds, so they take it seriously and invest time and money. Eikaiwa Schools - Tobberoth - 2008-12-04 It's pretty fun actually.. During the year I lived in Japan, I met a few Japanese people who speak Swedish, even to a pretty decent degree. Some of my friends even went to a Japanese guys house to have "Swedish conversation" with a bunch of Japanese people. But as phauna said, it's mostly a hobby. The ones I met were Japanese who had studied or lived in Sweden... that is, a VERY VERY VERY tiny minority. Me finding work teaching Swedish? Not going to happen. Eikaiwa Schools - askayscha - 2008-12-04 what, so if my nationality is american or british I won't be able to work there? my nationality is german! even though I live in the UK right now. Eikaiwa Schools - byakko - 2009-01-16 I've since been invited to a group interview with AEON. Any advice/ tips that those of you who were successful in garnering employment might share with me? Any good resources for developing that teaching lesson plan that I would have to present? The interview isn't until mid march so I have a bit of time to prepare. Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys. |
