kuzushiji flashcards or learning resources - KristinHolly - 2008-11-10 Do you know of any flashcards or other learning resources for reading Edo period kuzushiji? This is the style of calligraphy used in Edo period woodblock-printed books. I have found introductory books and a dictionary, but it would be nice to practice with flashcards or another system. I downloaded Anki yesterday to see if I could make flashcards with that. I think I would have to scan pages and clip phrases or characters to insert as picture files. Assuming I used pages for which transcriptions have already been published, it would not be hard to type up readings for the back of the cards. So, I think it is possible, but it would take a long time. I'm also not sure about copyrights. If something is already available online, I'd rather use that. kuzushiji flashcards or learning resources - phoenix - 2008-11-11 I have no idea of any resources on the web; But I would be very interested in the deck if you get to make it. kuzushiji flashcards or learning resources - KristinHolly - 2008-11-16 Here's what I've found online so far: A blog from a Kuzushiji reading group that includes some photos of signs to decipher (answers below all but the first couple photos): http://kuzushiji.exblog.jp/ Rare books from the National Diet Library (images without transcription): http://rarebook.ndl.go.jp/ Transcription of Japanese books from UVA Library: http://etext.virginia.edu/japanese/ There are is at least one book in both databases (Ise Monogatari), so you could try that. I think I will stick to print sources for now and give up on the flashcard idea. kuzushiji flashcards or learning resources - Transparent_Aluminium - 2008-11-16 You could always scan/copy the pictures and import them into an srs. Might not be worth your time though. |
