ahh... ...forgot about Rip Slyme - excellent - I remember seeing this video for the first time in 2004 when I first reached Japan (Galaxy/In the Groove - the one with hand puppets):

too late, already watched 久住小春 too many times already... ...what's up with that refrain in the middle of こんにちぱ? With the accordion in the background, reminds me of 団子三兄弟 for some reason...

...please look in your mailbox for a bill from my dentist for cavities induced by watching too much モーニング娘

I would prefer if you guys added artist and songname to the links... I'm not going to click all of those youtube links to find out what it is.

They are part of the reason I started learning Japanese again. I found some random clip with them try to tell stories in English right before stage6 shut down. I had to find out more about them after that. An episode I found interesting wasn't fan-subbed and so I started learning japanese again to find out what the heck they were saying.

I never really listened to the music, though, until that pancake/jingis song was forced upon me while watching another show.

As for konnichipa my brother had other feelings about the slow part of that song. Said she sounded like she was in heat.

Some of my favourite songs, none of which are really new though. GO!GO!'s my favourite band right now and I've always been a Pillows fan too, they (and also Puffy) were the band who helped me make the transition from English to Japanese. Nana Kitade (北出菜奈) has an awesome album out called "18- eighteen" which I highly recommend, none of my friends seem to know about her but her music rocks.

I love the second opening theme from Death Note:

What's up, people? by Maximum the Hormone.

http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=R0J3CQJIMH4

The second ending is great too! When I first heard it I thought he was singing in English, some illusion caused by the style they are singing in.

Zetsubou billy by Maximum the Hormone.

You probably shouldn't read the video's comments in case someone gives some Death Note spoilers or something.

I've always been a fan of Dream, from the original 3 girls to the current version which was seven girls (now six after one recently left). Not sure why they aren't more popular or promoted more heavily by Avex trax, they are all cute, genki, and good at singing and dancing (the 4 most important elements for a jpop girls group). Their leader Kana seems a pretty talented performer.

Here are some clips from their 2006 Xmas concert.

Get Over

Story

Jealousy / Hot Stuf

Get Over (instrumental mix) - from an earlier concert, they just dance.

In general terms I'm not a JPOP fan, but I make an exception for Dream, Hamasaki Ayumi, and maybe a couple of others. I don't like just listening to their music, but I like to watch their concerts.
