Recommended Video Games - albion - 2008-11-06 The latest system updates should have added a link to the PS Network Store to the PSP's menu. As long as you log in with an account for the Japanese store, you should be able to get access to it. Alternatively, you can access it with a PC then use a USB cable to put it onto the PSP. I don't have the PC software, so I'm not sure what you did exactly to access it. Edit; Here's the link to the PC site: http://www.jp.playstation.com/store/ Recommended Video Games - cjswanson1355 - 2008-11-13 Has anybody seen a good list of words one should know for RPGs? I try word searches, but I recieve a great deal of results when I put in a word such as dagger. There must be a list out there somewhere... Recommended Video Games - ファブリス - 2008-11-14 Try GameFAQs.com and search for Japanese game titles, they often have guides/faqs with translations of the japanese words. You'll see plenty of katakana and I guess the words will be based on what kind of rpg it is. Just as suffah mentioned, a game's vocabulary will vary with its setting. Recommended Video Games - playadom - 2008-11-14 hknamida Wrote:I just take my glasses off when reading furigana manga. My vision is bad enough that it takes significant effort to read the furigana.Tobberoth Wrote:[...] and I've noticed very clearly that I automatically read the furigana when it's there, even if I know the kanji.Seconded. However, this seems to be less of a problem for me when the font is small enough. Interestingly enough, I found a bilingual English/Japanese version of the hungry caterpillar book. It was in kana, together with the worst romaji I have ever seen[stuff like DAY-sue for です]. It was literally almost impossible to read. My eyes naturally gravitated to the English [like people seem to gravitate towards the furigana], and then were promptly sliced up by terrible romaji. Look at a translation guide, maybe for something you've already played. Or a normal guide/walkthrough with 'JIS' next to it, since that'll be in Japanese. Some I found: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/562386/22315 (Final Fantasy X-2, though I think there's some minor mistakes with this) http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/918914/42512 (Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission) http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/939426/52032 (Final Fantasy XII International) http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/file/935614/48684 (Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings) http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/935702/50361 (Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+) http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/582958/23739 (Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne) Alternatively, you could search Google for the name of the game in Japanese and 攻略, which should bring up sites with lists of items, equipment, abilities, etc. The list of words is probably more important if you're trying to learn the words, than having the English translation next to it. Once you get through one and learn the basic stuff like 戦う(たたかう)、魔法(まほう)、技(わざ), you'll be set for others ones. After that it's just getting used to any differences like 攻撃する instead of たたかう or スキル instead of 技. |
