Making Out In Japanese - Mcjon01 - 2008-08-12 It seems like having it in the notes should be fine, right? After all, in the end you should be able to tell if a phrase is feminine or masculine just by reading it. Also, I've done chapter 13 and I'm most of the way through 14. Again, I don't own the book, I just ganked it from my local library, but I'd be more than happy to share what I've done if I could get access to the spreadsheet. I think it would be best this way for all of us. Making Out In Japanese - Mcjon01 - 2008-08-12 Well, of course you wouldn't know from the start. What I'm saying is, if you put the gender on the back of the card, then you can make it part of the active recall process. If it's on the front, you might pick it up eventually, but there's no incentive to learn it since it's always right in your face along with the question. I see it as being practically the same thing as putting furigana on kanji -> pronunciation cards. Making Out In Japanese - alyks - 2008-08-12 Well then it's a matter of practicality. How do we know when we need to remember the gender? Either specify that it's a gender specific sentence in the sentence field or write the gender with it. Either way something needs to be put in. Making Out In Japanese - Zarxrax - 2008-08-12 Idea: have a seperate field for gender, then people can set it to display on either side they want. Thoughts? I personally dont think it should be shown on the front side though. Making Out In Japanese - alyks - 2008-08-12 Done. I put a gender field in them all. Men sometimes use it in casual speech, since ですか sounds too polite and か can be too harsh. Follow the examples of other men on this one, to get a feel for it. There's no set rule. While you're correct, the male equivalent of a の question marker is to just have no question marker. ですか and か are not the only options. Making Out In Japanese - takoman - 2008-08-13 Well, I've finished chapter 3 but I'm not really sure what the plan is for sharing the files. There doesn't seem to be a send attachments feature on the RTK email. Any ideas? :/ Making Out In Japanese - shakkun - 2008-08-13 Okay going through the comments chapter 7 still seems to be up, so I'll get started on that. If so, then you can just paste the contents in the sheet with the name "Chapter 3". Making Out In Japanese - phauna - 2008-08-13 I don't have enough sentences to type in lately, so I'd like in. What's a good chapter to do? Making Out In Japanese - alyks - 2008-08-13 Nine or ten are short, phauna. Making Out In Japanese - phauna - 2008-08-13 Cool, count me in for 9 then. I sent him an email a few hours ago asking for permission so I'm sure he'll add me when he gets a chance. Having said that, I also got the feeling from reading the postings in this forum that many people didn't belong to the AJATT group so we weren't going to go that route. But I'm just a sheep following the herd so tell me how I can contribute and I will
Making Out In Japanese - ashman63 - 2008-08-13 Hi there, I have both volumes of Making Out in Japanese, and would love to contribute a chapter. I am part of the AJATT group already (called 'ashman63') but I doubt I have access to this current project. Whoever is in charge, please assign me a chapter, and i'll get into it :-) Thanks Ashman63 Making Out In Japanese - Zarxrax - 2008-08-13 The post where everything finally got sorted out: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=24815#pid24815 Read it. Ashman, why don't you take chapter 8? And since these are filling up so fast, I'll go ahead and claim chapter 12. A recap of who's doing what: Chapter1: atreya Chapter2: fujiwara Chapter3: takoman Chapter4: alyks Chapter5: alyks Chapter6: atreya Chapter7: shakkun Chapter8: ashman63 Chapter9: phauna Chapter10: shakkun Chapter11: watashimo Chapter12: Zarxrax Chapter13: mcjon01 Chapter14: mcjon01 Making Out In Japanese - shakkun - 2008-08-13 I've put up Chapter 7, when I get back from Uni tonight I'll do Chapter 10. Edit: Chapter 10 is up. Making Out In Japanese - takoman - 2008-08-13 Zarxrax, I really like how you made it one spreadsheet with multiple pages. Very easy to navigate. Well done! And thank you for taking a leading role in this project. We all really appreciate it! Making Out In Japanese - atreya - 2008-08-14 第六課、できました! Making Out In Japanese - watashimo - 2008-08-14 Chapter 11 is still open? I'll take it then. Making Out In Japanese - abaddon - 2008-08-14 This is going faster than I thought. As mentioned earlier my copy of the book is underway from the US to Europe but all chapters seem to be distributed already. I could take on a chapter of one of you with a 'double' load. Perhaps one of the later chapters would be best (as I don't have a clear indication when it will arrive, so this would not hinder those ready to put it in a SRS already). Or perhaps I should do some checking/verification work?
Making Out In Japanese - smithem - 2008-08-14 私も。 Making Out In Japanese - shakkun - 2008-08-14 The chapters are really short, so that's why they're getting done so fast I guess. I'm still glad for the group effort though because my little finger on my left hand is broken. I never realised how much i use it for typing before! I've been checking as I go but double checking is always really good I think. Because the sentences are so short a small error is more likely to completely change the meaning. I love it. Should be done within a week. Thanks for organising this. Making Out In Japanese - abaddon - 2008-08-14 Shakkun, I hope the broken finger was not caused by typing in too many Japanese sentences? ![]() As for the booklet, it was just delivered by the mailman! Amazon really surprised me with a shipping time of only one week between US and Europe. So, that means I am ready to type or to do verification work, whatever is handy at the moment.
